cafe steamers

Someone at work had this meal. And it looked really good, so I thought I would give it a try. It was as good as it looked. There were large pieces of real chicken in the meals and the sauce was good and a tad spicy. I was even happy that the peas in the meal didn't taste bitter like frozen peas usually do. (At least they do to me.)

I will definitely get this again. It was a tasty change from some of my staple meals.

poor poor camera

When it rains it pours. We have had a pretty crappy couple of weeks. I won't get into all of it, but some of you know what I am talking about.

First, I dropped my new camera on the concrete while we were taking pictures of the boat to sell. The camera was on a tripod and it was a really windy day. I didn't think the wind would take it, but it did. And sure enough, it landed on the concrete. Thankfully it was only the corner of it, but I just got it. I was so bummed! It still works....for now.

Ugh. One thing after another.

sold

We decided to sell our boat and our jetski. I was impressed with how quickly both of them sold! But in a matter of a couple weeks, we have one less jetski and one less boat.

It's a little sad, but we can always get another one some day if we decide we want to. We just don't use them and so they just sit there costing money. So it was time. But there's lots of other things to look forward to this summer...like all the new neighbors and the pool! :)

thai chicken pasta

Here's yet another Let's Dish meal. I think (for your sake) there is only one more meal to post that I haven't yet from this batch of meals....Hmm....There may be two. :)

Anyway, I was a bit skeptical about this meal because it had peanut butter in the sauce. I am a little weary of meals that have peanut butter in it. But we made it quite spicy and you couldn't even tell there was peanut butter in the sauce.

Here are a couple pictures:

You could add peanuts to it at the end. I chose not to add them, but Chuck put them on his meal.

YUM! I am going to have to make this again soon. Just looking at the pictures again makes me hungry!

new tires....because i suck

One day last week, I went out to my car and got in, and drove away...just like I do every morning. I drove about a block and noticed a light was on in my car. I thought it was telling me a light was out. Nope. Tire pressure monitoring system. So I stopped. Then I saw that it said, in big letters in the middle of my dash, "TIRE PRESSURE TOO LOW". Crap. So being the smart person that I am, I drove back home. Of course, in doing this, I ruined that tire and any hope of patching it up.

There was a big screw in the tire. I must have gotten it on my way home last night. Then it sat in the driveway and deflated overnight. This was our second flat tire in a year from the construction in the neighborhood from building houses.

So I stayed home from work and Chuck came home at lunch time to help me take it off. We did a little research and decided to get all new tires on the car. They would have needed to be replaced soon anyway. But still....it's never fun when you have to buy all new tires. Ugh.

And a follow up...last weekend, Chuck's truck had a nail or screw in it, too. So that's 3 tires that needed to be fixed in a year. Yikes!

Thankfully the truck tires had a warranty on them so they patched it for free. You had better believe that we went ahead and got the warranty on my new tires. They aren't even close to being done building houses in the neighborhood!

flowering crab apple tree

This is our flowering crap apple tree we planted last year. I was so excited to see all the flowers on it this year. When we were at our old house, we planted a flowering crabapple in the front yard and it took it until the week we moved out to flower.

You can see pictures here.

So I was pleasantly surprised when this one flowers. Granted, this one was bigger and more matured than the last one was. I still worried I wouldn't get flowers.

It was this gorgeous for a little over a week. Then they all blew away. Bummer. But that's ok. This tree was the first to flower of our plants. And I love those first flowers that tell you Spring is here.

This was the tree I talked about yesterday that we moved. We decided it was just too close to the house. It's in a much better place now.

Now I am checking on all my other plants everyday looking for blooms. (And some have!) It's about as exciting as it sounds...kind of like watching paint dry. But when I do see a flower, I am giddy the rest of the day! So it's worth it in my mind!

We also put screen doors on the front and back doors this Spring. It's so nice to open the door and see out the front and let some fresh air in.

We did a little more planting over the weekend, so I'll get some pictures taken of those plants (when it isn't raining) and share!

memorial weekend

We had a great Memorial weekend! Thursday we went to a party for Chuck's mom who is retiring this year after years of teaching! It was nice to meet some of the people she has worked with for so long.

Friday...I have no idea what we did on Friday. :)

Saturday I got up and went for a jog. 1.8 miles around the neighborhood. This was the same path I ran on Friday. I was so proud! Then we ran some errands and came home and made ladder golf. It has many other names, but you throw two golf balls attached by a string at three tiers of pvc. It was lots of fun to make!

Then we went to our friends' house for dinner. What a gorgeous night to hang out on the deck and laugh with friends. We played some Rock Band well into the night!

Sunday we went to Gertens and returned a plant that died over the winter and picked up a few other things. We came home and planted and moved some plants around and moved a tree and planted some more. It was exhausting, but it looks so nice now that it's done. Then we went to Noodles for dinner and then went to see Iron Man 2. After the movie we went to the grocery store to get some goodies for our party on Monday. It was a perfect day.

Monday Chuck cut the grass and I cleaned the house and put down the rest of the bags of mulch we had to spread. Then one of my best friends came over and we went to the pool for a little while. We finished getting all the food ready then had a bunch of neighbors over to play games and eat in the back yard. It was a great way to meet some of the people in the neighborhood. They were all so nice and friendly, and I know we have made lots of new friends.

Then I promptly fell asleep on the couch watching tv.

The End. :)

morning jog

I haven't been running/jogging/exercising in a LONG time. I am not counting our soccer games we have once a week, because, well, just because I'm not! :) I have been eating too much and exercising too little. So this morning, I dragged my butt out of bed and went for a jog at 6AM. I know this may seem crazy to you, but if I am going to exercise, I want to do it in the morning. Why you ask? Simple:

  • Because it really wakes you up and prepares you for the day.
  • Because by 6:30 you have already accomplished something.
  • Because you can get sweaty and then shower. Instead of getting ready for your day, coming home from work and then getting gross again after working out.
  • Because it's so quiet and peaceful in the morning.
  • Because it's cooler in the morning than in the afternoon and no one likes to exercise in the heat. And yes, I know you could go to the gym, but being outside when you can in this state is something you must do!
  • Because it's a little fun dodging sprinklers in the morning!
  • Because you can get out any aggressions in the morning...and get those endorphins going early in the morning.
  • Because I said so.

You can view the path I took HERE if you are interested.

Happy Friday!

freerice.com

I came across a website I am sure most of you already know about. It's the best time waster I have found...because it actually uses your brain instead of letting it rot in your head!

FreeRice.com

You'll love it! It gives your vocabulary words and you need to see how many you can get. It donates 10 grains of rice for each question you get right. They start out fairly easy and get harder as you get more right. And you can also make it keep track of your previous score so you don't have to start over each time. You can also change the category if there is something else you want to try...say geography. I don't even attempt that one! :)

Have fun wasting some time and learning something at the same time!

laptop tray

I like to sit with my laptop on my lap on the couch. Yeah, yeah. I know they aren't really supposed to be for your lap. They get hot and blah blah blah They should have named them something else then! :)

But I also love my heated blanket. And I REALLY can't use my laptop when I have that heated blanket on. And given the choice between the two, the heated blanket wins. (Hence why I haven't been posting much lately!)

I had been thinking about getting something to put under my laptop so I could still use my heated blanket...even if the blanket wasn't on. But then, in true Andi form, I promptly forgot about it. Thankfully, my hubby has a better memory than I do and picked this little guy up for me.

You can plug it into your laptop via USB and it turns on a fan to keep your laptop cool and prevents overheating.

So now I can use my laptop AND my heated blanket! That makes one happy Andi!
