Next Door

Here's another highly anticipated update on the house next door!

More house....(This is the side of the house, the side we live on.)

And more house.....(This is the front of the house.)

And still more house....(You can see a little of our house on the left!)

Until next time my fellow house stalkers!

Shopahoic Ties the Knot

I just finished this the other night. It was the third book in the Shopaholic series. It was yet again another cute book. The story wasn't hard to follow and it was a quick read. I find it amusing that the main caharacter always seems to get herself into such predicaments. I think she has some avoidance issues! But overall, it was really creative and the endings are always happy. All issues are resolved. Which isn't all that realistic, but it's what makes it a fun book to read! On to book number 4 for me! We'll see how quickly I read this one and how long before you see another book post! :)

Next Door

Here's another update of the house next door. This is a picture looking in one of the garage doors. You can see the stairs as well as a couple windows above the stairs which are part of the two-story living room.

This is standing inside the garage.

For this next picture, pretend you are crooked...because I apparently was when I took this picture. :) I wanted to show this (crookedness and all) because you can see the three arches in the entry way. I pointed out one the other day.

This is the back and the goofy pointy eat-in area. (You can also see our house on the ride side of the picture.

This is another kind of crooked picture. I stuck my head inside the house from the back. The arch you can see will be on the left side of the living room fire place. I have my head somewhere in the eat-in or kitchen area.

And finally, a view of part of the front of the house. I wanted to take this so you can see our house, too! :) Just because I am silly like that. There will be a porch on this house, too. It will be by the door and by the big window you can see. You can't see the 3rd garage in this picture either.

It looks so different every day when we get home from work. I get so excited to see what they have done when I drive up! I love surprises! :)

Calculus

I sent in my first Caclulus assignment a little while back and received it graded in the mail shortly after. I have had it hanging on my fridge since I got it back. Here's proof. (It's the blue paper on the right door.)

I had to hang it up on the fridge because I got 95/100! (And a "Great Work!")

I was pretty proud of myself. I was also a little mad because I made a stupid mistake and should have had 99/100 at least. But I can deal with 95! I am turning in my next assignment today. I really have to stop spending so much time on each assignment or I'll never finish! But the picture below explains how my brain and math work.

Haha! It's so true. I spent so much time in college making justifications for my work and I can't do that with math. It's a different train of thought and I am having a battle with my brian getting it to think logically instead of crazily! :)

And I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but I seem to understand the Calculus concepts (well, more or less), but I struggle with basic Algebra. Strange. So I am relearning both Calculus and Algebra. What a pain! But it will all be worth it in the end.

Also, it's not very comforting when people ask what I am working on and I tell them "Calculus" and their faces twist and they get this look on their face like they have just eaten something very foul. So after having people do it to me, I am really trying not to do it to other people. Because I know I do. So if I do get that disgusted look on my face for something you like or are doing that I don't find thrilling, just remind me of Calculus. I will immediately apologize. :)

Happy Birthday Kelly!

One of my very best friends is celebrating her birthday (29 and holding!) today. Kelly works with Chuck so I get to see her for lunch at least 3 times a week. Today we went to Cosi for lunch and Kelly got the smores. We have been eyeing these since we started doing lunches at Cosi over a year ago.

It's so cute!

This is a close up of the flame. There's a fancy purple gel in the middle that you light and then put the grate back over the top. Note * if you get this, light this a bit before you want the smores because it got increasingly hotter.

And finally...the birthday girl! (With a strange show-lady behind her!)

Next Door

Since I am behind with what is actually happening at the house right now, I thought I would catch up a little more! So here's another day of the house next door.

They added more walls in the house. And some of the boards which will be the first floor ceiling and the second floor's floor.

This is the large dining room window I mentioned yesterday. You can see inside the house a bit, too.

This is a view of the front. The window on the left is the study, the tall skinny hole is for the front door and the garages are on the right.

These are the garages.

This is a view from the front door. I stood on the steps they have there and took a picture looking in. The study is on the left, the dining room is on the left past the study. You can also see the stairs and the windows in the back are part of the two-story living room. The kitchen is around the stairs. On the right, you can see an arched "window" (there are actually three of them there), but those are built in display nooks. It would be silly to put windows into the garage! (Which is what is on the other side of that wall.)

And this is the back of the house. The pointy/triangular eating area cracks me up.

That should have to tide you over until my next update! :)

Next Door

I have been scolded for being behind on my posts about the house next door. So here's another update (which is still a couple days behind)!

As you can see, they started putting up walls on the first floor. The first two pictures were taken from our bedroom closet window. That's the only window in our house you can actually see the new house. And I need to stand on a step stool to see out of said window. I think that's pretty nice. In the second picture you can see a BIG window on the main floor. That is where their dining room will be. And it looks at the side of our garage...interesting. I guess they will get good light in the dining room, but the view won't be anything to write home about. :)

Also, the second floor that is built is part of their living room which is an open two story living room. It looks nice, but all I see is wasted space where another room could go. But this is why there is only this part of the second floor done and nothing else.

I also love how they spray paint the house number on. I like it because it's pink, but their size cracks me up! More soon...maybe tomorrow!

A recently found picture

I was browsing some of my old photos and came across this one.

This was from a Twin's game a couple years ago. We went with Katie and her hubby Chris. I just thought it was a cute picture of us and wanted to share. :)

Next Door

I'm a little behind on my posts about the house next door. They are flying! These are few of the next step of the process since I last posted.

They covered the basement. This will be the main floor's floor. It was fun to walk around and try to figure out where things would go. But since I am not very visual, the next few days helped me see where things were going much better...they strarted putting up walls!

We never did figure out what all the orange markings on the floor were for. Anyone build houses that can fill me in? :)

Also, notice that they have the siding up on the house in the background. I love seeing the colors they make the houses!

And we'll have new neighbors before too long. A house down the block sold the other day. I can't wait to meet more new neighbors! Yay!

House warming gift

my wonderful fritnd Katie got me the nicest house warming gift! She let me pick something from UpperCase Living. If you don't know what that is...you should check it out! I think they are so cool!

This is what I picked out.

This exact thing isn't in the catalog, but I think the phrase was. But I wanted two different colors and fonts, so I created one myself. It is upstairs above a built in cabinet. I have (since taking this picture) placed some frames on the built in and it looks very nice.

These words were a bit tricky to get on. Well, at least the lfowing font in brown on the bottom. The words on the top were much easier. I think it's just because of how delicate the font was. But I am very pleased with how it looks and it makes a nice addition to the house! Thanks Katie!
