Cirque Du Soleil

Last weekend my mom and I went to Cirque du Soleil and we saw Saltimbanco. It was really good! Gorgeous costumes and color and amazing acts. The second half was more exciting than the first as far as the wow factor acts go. They do some amazing things. My mom asked me once if they had safety stings attached to them. I said nope....they wouldn't have had the mats out earlier for them to fall on if they were! Look at the "Acts" tab on the Saltimbanco page and you can see some of the stuff that was done.

But it was so fun! I just love those shows. My mom and I went to another a couple years ago and we went to a couple others with the rest of the family. It's never a dull moment! If you ever get the chance to go, I definitely recommend it!

New Car Stereo!

For quite some time we have wanted to get a new deck in my car. We still had the factory one in there because we had a huge hard drive that played mp3s through it. Well, it hasn't been working well for a while, but I didn't care (mind you, now that I hear the new one...WAY BETTER), but it really annoyed Chuck. So we had some money coming to us from Ultimate Electronics because we didn't use the warranty in 5 years or something. So we decided to get one....Finally. Part of the reason we have been wanting to do this more recently is because we take my car to work everyday. (And yes, this means we are keeping my car and putting car shopping on hold until it's actually necessary!)

Now, Chuck has been trying to convince me for quite some time that we needed one, but I didn't see the point. Then I saw this fancy one! I was sold!

The big knob in the middle turns for volume and searching. It has an LCD screen and you plug your iPod (or iPhone) up to it and it searches through your songs...on the radio. You don't have to control it through your iPod like most of them do. It also shows album art...or what the album cover of the cd it is from....this is something that needs to be on your iPod first...it doesn't do this on its own.

It's very pretty, too! It doesn't have a CD player, but we have all our songs in mp3 form anyway and haven't had a cd player in that car for a very long time. So it was a great decision. I just love it. And, the normal colors on it are blue. But you can change them to red....but the display looks a lot like pink to me! So I am even more excited about it! I just wanted to share my love of my new toy! Now I have to put more songs on my phone to listen to in the car!

Sunday TV

Sundays are a great way to end the weekend. There are so many great shows on! First is The Simpsons. This show is so funny. There was a lull in the hilarity for a while, but it's back to it's funniness!

Then is Desperate Housewives. I love this show. It's one of my favorites. There's always something exciting going on in it and they always keep you wanting more and in anticipation of next week! I love that about shows. When I can't wait until next week.

Then we have Brothers and Sisters. I am hooked on this show. It has another cast member from Six Feet Under and Calista Flockhart. I am so glad she is back on a show! I loved Ally McBeal and her in it! I am happy to see her again and glad it's in a great show about all that goes on in families...the secrets, the happiness, the sadness and the unconditional love. There is a lot of back story with this one that makes a huge difference in my mind, so if you want to start watching this one, I would go back and watch previous episodes to catch yourself up!

I think that is mostly it. There are a couple other shows that haven't started yet and won't be back for a while, but I will write about them when they come back. I have also made an update to Monday shows now that one show has restarted.

Thursday TV

Thursday shows have to be one of my favorites. First we have ER. My roommate in college watched this show all the time. I started to get into it because she had it on all the time. And I grew to love this show. This is the final season and I think it's a good thing. I just don't know how much longer it can last. They are really pushing the limits this year, though. Going out with a bang I guess. They have cast members dying and cast members leaving. This last week had to be one of the saddest episodes I have ever seen. I might have been emotional, but I cried through the whole thing!

Then is Grey's Anatomy. I am totally hooked on this show. I need a weekend to just sit and catch up on shows. I can't wait until I can do that. Chuck doesn't like this show, so I don't bore him with watching it. We watch something else together and I will go back and watch this one later. He doesn't like tv like I do. So I tend to have more shows I like than him. But that's ok. :)

I think that's actually it for Thursdays!

Wednesday TV

First I am sorry this has taken so long to post. I am sure my 4 readers have been dying to know what I watch! Wenesdays are pretty full now that new shows have started. First we have Pushing Daisies. I was sure this show wasn't going to last, but it came back. I think it's cute. A guy can bring people back from the dead. But if he touches them a second time, they are dead forever. It's got some cute twists and is just an amusing mindless show. :)

Next is Private Practice. This is a spin off of Grey's Anatomy where one of the characters moves to a new city and this is her new show. I like this one a lot. They have a great cast and they can really make this show go somewhere. This is only the second season, so there is hopefully much more to come of this show!

Then we have Dirty Sexy Money. This show has Peter Krause in it and I started watching this show merely for him. He was in HBO's Six Feet Under and I loved that show, so I started watching this one, too. It's also a pretty mindless show, but it's entertaining.

One more that I like is Til Death. This show is a half hour and just hilarious. It has Brad Garrett in it. He was Raymond's brother from Everybody Loves Raymond. He cracks me up. They used to have a couple other cast members, but I guess they didn't last into this season. Oh well. :) Time for some new ones I suppose!

Those are all the Wednesday shows. I think I might like watching TV a little too much! :)

Tuesday TV

First, I realize I am posting my Tuesday shows on Wednesday. I didn't get a chance to write this yesterday. So there might just be TWO tv posts today! We went to Chuck's dad's house to work on my car. Which means that Chuck and his dad worked on my car and Jean (Chuck's step mom) and I chatted and watched a movie. :)

I love Tuesdays for the shows. House is such a funny show. Hugh Laurie does a great job being House. He's so mean, but there's something lovable about him, too. Either way, something about the show has had me hooked for years!

Fringe has to be my new favorite show. I love SciFi and this is just an action filled show. It's all about fringe science and pushing the bounds we know for science....teleportation, robots, mind reading... all very interesting stuff. I definitely think someone should get teleportation figured out. That would be awesome. (Well, aside from the mixing your particles into space and hoping they all come back together in the right place...or at all.) Still, they make it look great on Star Trek! This is definitely a show you should watch. You might find a new "must-see" show for the season!

Next is Law and Order: SVU, or Special Victims Unit. If you don't watch Law and Order (or think they have a show that is called Elevator Inspection Unit) this is going to be a worthless paragraph for you. I have seen all the other Law and Order shows and I stuck with this one because I like the cast. Mariska Hargitay is awesome and Christopher Meloni is great in this show (although if you have ever seen OZ on HBO, you will always look at Christopher Meloni a little differently). And you can't forget Ice-T. Ha! You are probably asking yourself, "Seriously? He still goes by that?" And the answer would be yes. :) It cracks me up, but he does a great job. The basis of this Law and Order is a bit more disturbing because it's about "sexually based crimes" (and yes, they say that in the intro). But it's still a great show and I am so excited for it's return!

I just realized that a bunch of the shows I watch are on FOX. Hmm. Interesting. I remember when FOX wasn't a great channel for shows. They have really come a long way. I have no idea what's on tv for Wednesday. So I'll post about that one later!

Monday TV

I really enjoyed the Terminator movies. So of course when the tv series for it came out, I knew I had to see it. It's not as good as the movies, but I still like it. I like just about any show on tv. I am kind of a tv whore. Because I will watch it even if I don't like what I see just to watch it. It's dumb really. I am trying to get better about it, but there are still some shows that I have to watch. :) Terminator isn't a show I HAVE to watch, but I do enjoy it. I think this season is much better than last season.

I love Prison Break and it's on tonight! I am so excited. I just love all the action in it and the fun plot twists. This show always keeps you guessing. I think that's really makes a show good...one that keeps you on your toes and doesn't bore you. This show is NEVER boring! If you haven't checked out either of these, I think you should.

I also like The Hills. I know I am too old for it and it's a dumb show, but I still like it. I don't usually watch it on tv, but I go back and watch the episodes when I have time on my laptop. I think I have done that for a couple seasons now. :) This show has drama and gossip and all sorts of stupid girly fights. But maybe if I watch it, I will see how stupid it is and try and keep those things out of my life! HA! One can hope! :) Tomorrow I will write about my favorite Tuesday shows. :)

*UPDATE* Another Monday show has started...Chuck. Obviously I watch this show because of my hubby being named Chuck. :) But also because it's entertaining and hilarious. This guy ends up doing spy work and he works at a place similar to Best Buy. He has to try to hide it and the antics he goes through is just ridiculous. But I love it!

Snow Cones

I just thought this picture was hilarious and I wanted to share the hilarity! Enjoy!

Buried Lies

Chuck coached with a guy who, after retirement, decided he wanted to start writing books. He has three already written and just recently released his fourth book called "Buried Lies". You can read more about Peter and his books at his website PRennebohm.com. He just recently did a book signing for this new release, but we weren't able to go. So I thought you might be interested in checking it out. I thought it was cool to know someone that wrote a book...or four!

That reminds me. My mom said that someone in our extended family wrote a book, too. I will have to find out what that is and post it. I guess I know more authors than I thought! :)

Kite Runner

The book we read this time for Book Club was Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. This was my pick and I am glad I did. Chuck had read it a while ago and told me I had to read it, too. I really liked it. It was hard to read at times, but wonderfully written. I am going to read this author's other book, too! I have another I might read first. We are meeting tonight to talk about the book. I think we are going to take a hiatus for a while from Book club during the winter because we get together for Card/Game Night then. But if you haven't read this one yet, definitely pick it up!
