Water For Elephants

This is the next book we are reading for book club. It's called Water For Elephants. So far it's pretty funny. Well, the writing is funny, not necessarily what happens (I am only 3 chapters in). It's a pretty easy read even for someone slow like me. I'm excited to read more and see what happens.

I am always looking for more books to add to my list of ones to read. So if you have any suggestions or ones you have read recently that you enjoyed, let me know. :)

Wind Chime

This is the wind chime I got for my step mom for her birthday.

I love the way my wind chimes sound outside and I didn't think she had one. So I was on a mission to find one for her. I found it at The Bibelot. They always have such fun things in there and I could spend the better part of a day just browsing around in there. But I saw this online and was in and out so I could run some other errands. It's made out of glass or glass-like material and sounds so nice! The colors are so pretty and bright in person! It will look great outside! And I love that all of the glass pieces are hanging from a branch! So if you are in need of a new wind chime, I definitely recommend checking these out!

Crazy Nails

I have been on a kick of painting my nails in crazy ways! I started with black, then red, then bright pink. Then I decided to try various french manicures. I first tried this one. Which is silver polish with silver sparkles over the top (the sparkles are hard to see in this picture). I actually really liked it!

Since I only wear silver, this was great! I then did the traditional white tips with the silver glitter over the top and really liked how that turned out, too! Saturday I tried pink tips and I thought it was cute, but I didn't have the time to let them dry all the way, so they got smudged and I took them off. But since I have the terrible habit of picking at my fingers, this has helped a bit. Dark nail polish or tips tend to make me play with them less because they are such a pain to try to fix them up. Today is all silver and I love that, too! I think I am a little strange when it comes to nails and what I think is cute and what actually is!

On a side note. If you do like to do your own nails and would like to try the white tips, Target has a white nail pen (like white out) by Sally Hansen and it is so easy to use compared to just painting it on with a regular brush. Just a tidbit of advice!

SPIDERS!

Not too long ago, I was looking at my flowers out front and found this horribly disgusting fellow!

(I do recommend enlarging him to see him better!)

Of course, the first thing I do is go tell Chuck about it, but he was up on a ladder doing something, so I next went to get my camera. After I took a bunch of pictures of him at various angles, I went to my office to find out what he was. Turns out he's in the family of jumping spiders. Had I known this before I was taking pictures, I don't think I would have gotten so close to him just to get a good picture. I never saw him jump, but if you have ever watched jumping spiders move, they sort of jerk when they move. It's hard to explain, but if you have seen it, you will understand

He was a cool looking spider and I like cool bugs when I know I am in no danger. I said I would never stick my hand in a flower again, but I found I was doing it the next day! We also found a similar one of these spiders, but with different coloring, living in part of our mailbox. Spiders are one downfall about living by a lake!

Here are some other links for you to check out if you want to see more of this spider.

My Gallery This is my bug gallery. Scroll all the way down and you will see them. You can also enlarge them quite big and see him more closely.

Wikipedia Result This has some information about these nasty creatures and some other pictures of them. There is more information here about these creatures than I ever wanted to know!

Love in the Time of Cholera

I am in a book club with a few friends and we just finished the book Love in the Time of Cholera. It wasn't really a bad book, I just couldn't get into it. No one had anything great or terrible to say about it. I think we were just kind of indifferent. I have a hard time getting into books. I need something that makes me not want to put it down or I put off reading it. I used to like books from Oprah's Book Club books back in high school, but now, I find them to be quite dull. So if you are in the mood for a love story that should get to the point about 100 pages sooner...this book is for you!

Our next book is Water for Elephants. Anyone hear anything about it? I will try to write more about the books I read since I would really like to start reading in my free time more. I am starting to find tv boring and there are other things I would rather do. And reading is one of them. Maybe with more reading time, I won't be such a slow reader...One can hope!

I have also added a new link on the right side of the page for book entries. Obviously, there is only this post on there right now, but in the future there will be more. I just wanted to point that out.

New Haircut

It's always fun to get a new haircut. But it's not always good to try to take a picture of yourself after a new haircut. I never think it looks good. But here is a picture anyway.

And I know I was supposed to write sooner like I promised, but I wasn't real good about it. I will try to get better and write more, but I warn you....it might be boring! :)

Well....

I have been a bit quiet on here and I promise I do have things to say. I have just been really lazy and haven't uploaded any pictures recently that I have been meaning to show. So I will be sure I get to that tonight and have something more read-worthy tomorrow or later tonight. :)

You Should Visit.....

My friend, Katie has a new site. She cracks me up with all the funny things she says! And it's not just her saying funny things...her son is getting to be quite the funny guy, too! She's always posting pictures of her adorable kids and I just can't get enough! Plus, if you know her, it will be even more fun to read! :)

I Hate Cleaning

I am sure most of you know this about me, but I hate to clean. When I get started and get in the groove of it, I can be a maniac. But the thought of cleaning as often as I should is not something I look forward to. I am not even happy when I am done cleaning because all I am thinking about is the next time I will have to clean. So, we have decided to look into getting a house cleaner. We're having someone come today to give us an estimate and we'll see what they have to say. I am so very excited about it! I don't even need them to clean everything. I would be satisfied if just my bathrooms were cleaned. (Maybe the first time they clean everything and then just do the bathrooms after....who knows.) So we'll see how it goes! My next post may be about me jumping for joy because I won't have to clean as much! :)

Honey Bees

I came acros this funny site. I have to admit, I didn't go through all the pages, but once I found you could make a bee, I was sold and had to share. You can create a bee and email it to someone or save it. I could make a whole family of bees! The idea that I am posting this site cracks me up since I am petrified of bees! I squeal and run (even though I know this isn't the right reaction) and I think I have only been stung once (and I still have a scar from it)...I am still scared of them. So maybe those of you that aren't scared of them will enjoy this site and learn something!
