I found this recipe, or maybe it found me…I can't remember. But I was excited that the only thing I didn't have on hand for it was a green pepper. So when I went to the store I picked one up and I am SO glad that I did.
This was a really simple meal. Think Hamburger Helper, but not out of a box.
First you brown some hamburger.
Then add in the peppers and garlic (I also added some onion powder and I might just throw in some freshly chopped onions next time).
Then you add the sauce and water. The water helps the noodles cook without eating up all the sauce!
Next, you have to break up some lasagna noodles (which proved to be the messiest part since pieces went everywhere). Next time I make this, I will make the pieces a little smaller than I did this time because I ended up cutting them up slightly before I ate them.
Cover and let simmer for a while.
Then add some cheese and devour!
I took a huge helping and ate it all. Chuck went back for seconds and then had the leftovers the next day.
Needless to say, this meal was a hit and I'll definitely make it again.
I am always weary to try new meals, but more times than not, I end up liking them and I am glad I took the plunge to actually read the instructions (in order) and make it turn out right. So I am hoping I can put the billions of cookbooks and cooking magazines to good use. I just have to had a little dedication and plan ahead at the grocery store.
What I really need to do is go back to having a calendar on the fridge with the meals for the week. When we did that, we ate much better and were able to see, on paper, how much we went out to eat.
Moral of this blabbing post…make this meal. Your family will love you.
