Polls

Posted on July 21, 2009 by Andi

I had forgotten that my website has the ability to do polls. I give it options and you, my faithful readers, get to vote on said options. I need to give it a try.

Now I just need you to give me some suggestions on a poll topic!

Ready…..

Set….

Fruit Salad

Posted on July 21, 2009January 10, 2012 by Andi

The other night when we had friends over for this meal, Chuck also made the tastiest fruit salad. I think it's my new favorite combination of fruits….strawberries, pineapple and grapes. YUM! He made a huge batch and we ate it the next day with every meal! I highly recommend giving it a try.

Also….please note that this is not the way we served the fruit salad! But it would have been a topic of discussion if we had. I also saw a picture online of fruit salad served in martini glasses. I think I am going to have to give that a try next time!

Next Door

Posted on July 20, 2009 by Andi

They are still working like crazy on the house. All day Saturday they worked on drywall inside and tons of people came by this weekend to see the house and the one next to it. (But there's still no “Purchased” sign on either of them. They are also going to start another house 3 houses down. They are really flying on these houses. Anyone want to move in down the block? 🙂

They also started adding detail to the porch in the front.

And insulated in the garage.

I also found a birds next nestled next to the back door of the house. Hopefully they will hatch soon! Anyone know what kind of bird these are from?

A great weekend

Posted on July 20, 2009 by Andi

I spent the morning at Studio at Rush Creek with Paige. We made a bunch of glass pendants for her wedding. I won't tell you what we are doing with them yet, but it will be very cool! We made over 140 of them in just over 2 hours. It was loads of fun!

I can't wait to see what they look like when they are all finished after being fired in the kiln. What a fun way to start off the morning!

Then my mom and aunt came over to help us plant a bunch of the plants we got this weekend for our landscaping. We did some of them yesterday, but didn't finish. We still have a couple more things to buy and plant (including a tree and mulch), but it looks so much better already. I ordered Chinese for all of us to have for dinner after our hard work. We are very tired. And I am very sore!

I also learned this weekend that a good way to meet your neighbors is to plant outside all day. Lots of them stop by and introduce themselves. We meet some really nice people and I can't wait to get to know them better and meet more of the neighbors. I find it fun that instead of telling someone your address, you stand in the front yard, point and say “I'm in the *add color here* house.” 🙂 I love our neighborhood.

It was a great weekend overall!

Emma

Posted on July 19, 2009 by Andi

This is my brother's girlfriend's new kitten. Her name is Emma.

She's so fuzzy! She's a medium hair cat and has the bushiest tail. It's fun to play with other people's animals. After being petless for a couple months, it's really quite nice! So I'll just have get my kitty fix elsewhere. And Emma will definitely fit the bill!

Saucy Parmesan Chicken

Posted on July 18, 2009April 5, 2016 by Andi

I made this last night for dinner when we had some friends over. I haven’t made it for a while, but I was reminded how tasty it was! This is from Kraft Foods. There’s only two ingredients to put on the chicken and then you serve it over noodles. Yum! If you want something quick, easy and delicious, you should give this a try!

Next Door

They did a couple more things I thought I should take pictures of. 🙂

They poured the garage floor.

And the concrete for the porch.

I believe they have also poured the basement floor now. I looked down the egress window in the back and it looked like it had been done.

Of course, there's a ton of stuff being done inside, too….wiring, plumbing, venting. But no one has bought it yet….so no new neighbors. But we'll have some before we know it!

Tweet tweet

Posted on July 14, 2009January 10, 2012 by Andi

I just can't decide….do I need a twitter account? I keep going back and forth. I am leaning towards yes since I appear to be the only one without one. The thing I really like about facebook is the status updates. Well, that is all twitter is. And If I update twitter, facebook will also update.

The downsides…learning another new “fad”. And then the tedious process of making new “friends” to follow your updates and finding people you want to follow. But then I would know what EVERYONE was doing. So there are positives, too!

I would love your opinions…yay or nay on starting a twitter account?

Shopaholic & Sister

Posted on July 14, 2009January 30, 2011 by Andi

I finished another one of the books in the shopaholic series. This is book number 4/5. It was a cute story. The main character learns she has a long lost half sister and they are nothing alike…so it seems. It was a fun twist on the character. And just like the other books, she manages to get herself into a situation she doesn't seem to have a way out of. Really, all of her problems would be solved more easily if she wouldn't keep secrets from her husband and friends and stopped thinking she can solve problems without help. Clearly, she can't! 🙂 But it wouldn't make much of a book or be as hilarious without her absent mindedness. So Thanks Sophie Kinsella for another fun read.

I have started book 5 (and the final one in the series). I am excited to see how it finishes up and if there is room left for more books in the series.

Banana Bread

Posted on July 13, 2009April 7, 2016 by Andi

A couple weeks ago I made my very first attempt at homemade bread from scratch. This means I didn't put it in the bread maker…I mixed it and baked it in the oven. It was a HUGE hit! I made it when Chuck's grandparents stayed with us and again the weekend after that. Both times I meant to take a picture of the bread and I forgot. I did get one picture.

Yes, this is a picture of the crumbs left over in the bag it was stored in. Ha! See…it really was a hit! I have some ripe bananas in the freezer to use when I get the urge to bake.

I found the recipe from Stef's website. She is my friend's sister-in-law. I left out the nuts in my bread since I don't care for them.

Give it a try. It's delicious!
