Neighborhood Pool

Posted on June 9, 2009 by Andi

SOme people have inquired about what the pool will look like that is one day going to be across the street from our house. We walked over to the pool the other day and I snapped a couple pictures!

This is the shade area in the pool area.

This is what it looks like when you walk up to the pool. You can see Chuck by the gate…unlocking it so we can go inside.

This is picture of the pool from the inside.

This is another picture from inside the pool area. You can see the pool house at the far end of the picture.

The pool is 3' 10″ the whole way around. They have a bunch of pool toys there, bathrooms in the pool house and a soda machine! Love it! I love all the landscaping they do around the pool. It will be very pretty across the street from us. This pool also has a playground, basketball court, and a gazebo. As far as I know, there will only be the pool across the street from us and an open park area. But that will probably happen next year at the earliest.

It's very pretty and I would definitely take the pool over neighbors any day! 🙂 I know there will be people there, but there's something nice about sitting at night and looking at a pool instead of a house. 🙂

I have found a new favorite font! I love it and want everything to be written in this font! It reminds me of the way I write. I would love to get my blog posts to write with it. I may be the only one that will be able to see it, but I'll be happy. I should work on that soon! 🙂 Here's what it looks like.

Next Door

So last time I wrote about the house next door they had poured the foundation for the house. Since then, they have taken off the molds and insulated some of the walls.

If you have finished a basement before, you will know that you need to put up wall studs and then insulate the walls. Well, Lennar does something a little different. They insulate the basement from the outside. Then you don't have to insulate when you are finishing the basement. The insulation they put on the walls is probably and inch thick of the yellow stuff you see in the pictures.

I think it's so fun to watch all of this progress! I'll leave you with a funny picture of me. I am standing next to the pile of dirt/sand they dug out for the house next door. Isn't it huge?! I wanted to climb it, but it just kept sliding out from under me…stupid sand! 🙂

MMM…Dairy Queen

After lunch today we stopped to get a tasty treat at DQ. That's what you do on Friday's right? I love getting a twist cone (because I too full after lunch for a blizzard) and today they had chocolate and vanilla, but in different machines. So this is how they made it for me. 🙂 I thought it was cute! 🙂

Next Door

It's time for an update on the house being built next door.

After they popured the footings for the house they filled it in with “class 5” (I think that's what Chuck said it was called) AKA rocks. Then one night a big truck came by and dropped off the forms to pour the foundation.

The next day they had everything set up to pour the foundation.

I think it's fascinating how quickly they do this. But since we really do have SAND a couple feet under the ground, they need to work quickly…because sand walls only stay up for so long. You can just watch the sand fall down the sides into the bottom. I wish I would have been around to see them as they put these up. It would have been interesting to see.

*On a side note…I am going to warn you…I have created another category on the right sidebar. This is for Glendalough. Which is the neighborhood we are in. I have all sorts of things I want to include in there. For now it will be about the different houses and such. Mostly, I am doing this for an easy way to search for things related to the neighborhood at a later time. For instance, when someone moves in next door and might want to see what I have blogged about it…if they don't think I am completely insane…which I am sure they will! And just generally for things I want to keep about the neighborhood. Eventually things about the houses being built will not be online anymore (after they are all finished). And being the nosey person I am that wants to know everything about everyone's houses, I am going to post things you probably won't care about. 🙂 So beware! 🙂

Ever have one of THOSE days?

Posted on June 3, 2009 by Andi

Nothing in particular has gone wrong or been bad today, but it hasn't been good either. Do you have those days where things bother you more than normal and the littlest things set you off? For me, today is one of those days. I don't feel cranky, but when I get asked how to do something and my answer is never good enough (even when it's right) and then a handful of people are then questioned for same said answer I gave (but somehow theirs is better) makes me cranky and gets under my skin. I am sure I am just tired (because I sure feel like I am) and if this headache would just go away, the same thing may not have triggered anything in me. But today it did.

Phew…now that I have that off my chest. I am better! Big deep breath and a smile! Life is good! AND it's gorgeous outside! 🙂

I have been busy lately with my Calculus class. It appears I am a bit out of practice in the area of math! So I am spending every waking moment on it. Thankfully I live with the best tutor! 🙂 So I'll get around to making a longer entry soon. I have to do an update on the progress they are making on the house next door, too!

Next Door

They have started building the house next door to us. There is one partially finished two houses down, but on Tuesday (5/26/09) they started digging out the house that will be next door. I saw at the model which house will go there and I am so excited to watch its progress. Plus, I am happy they are building a house an not leaving a big lot there. I would rather have a house for sale and have them get it done than decide in a year to start construction next door again.

So these are the pictures I have taken. In the first one you can see the side of our house. My phone didn't really do the hole justice.

I wish I had taken some with the big truck sitting in the middle digging out the dirt! They dug out the house on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday, they had people getting ready for concrete. Chuck worked from home, so he took some pictures for me with the concrete truck!

In the last picture, you can see the partially finished house (two doors down). I think it's cool I can watch a house being built. I am sure the future neighbors will think I am nuts when I tell them I have a documentary of their house being built! 🙂 I would love to see one of our house!

New categories

Posted on May 28, 2009April 21, 2020 by Andi

I realized I was writing a lot of things on here about various products I have received/bought and wanted a better way to search for them. So I made a new Products category on the right side of my site. It's under Books and Food. I also added slightly better descriptions to them. This way there's a better understanding of what you will find there.

I went back to some previous posts and added them to the product category, too. I didn't go ALL the way back, but I will try to get more of the older posts categorized in time.

I may at some point make my categories more defined. I realized as I was going through some of the older posts for the “products” category that a lot of them are clothes or accessories. So they may need their own category at some point, but for now I am going to give this a try. I may also add a crafts category since I have posted some of my crafts on here, but that seems a bit counter productive with Crafts On A Whim. But we'll see where the future takes me! 🙂
