Daffodils

Posted on March 14, 2009January 10, 2012 by Andi

Te American Cancer Society has been selling daffodils in the sky way this past week. One of the attorneys I work for bought some for me and the other assistant that works for him. When he gave them to us, they were completely closed. This was the day after I put them in water!

Only about half of my flowers have bloomed. So I can't wait to see them on Monday when I get in to work. They will probably all be open and so pretty! It's nice to have something spring-like to look at on my desk.

Also note that I put them in a water bottle. I thought it was amusing. It happened to be what I had at my desk at the time and I thought it would be easier to bring home….which I didn't end up doing. 🙂

Treat Day

Posted on March 13, 2009January 10, 2012 by Andi

Every Friday, we have Treat Day at work. We rotate bringing in treats for everyone. It can be anything. Today, we were giving a green spread in honor of St. Patty's Day. I don't usually take pictures on treat day, but this was so funny. It is not usually this extravagant! 🙂 Have a great Friday!

Also…take note of the new signature below! It actually looks like the way I sign my name on cards and how I would imagine I would sign this if it were in a journal. 🙂

Rubber Band Gun

Posted on March 12, 2009January 10, 2012 by Andi

One of the attorneys at my office has been dying to have us try out his rubber band gun. We have had talks about how myself, another assistant and one of the attorneys shoot rubber bands at the other's desk (to confuse the other, of course). When this attorney heard about this, he brought the gun in for us. He also gave us (the other assistant and me) a camera and told us to take a video and pictures when we ambush the attorney. We have not yet done it, but I know hilarity will ensue. I will be sure to share pictures if I remember to grab the camera. 🙂

This is a picture of the rubber band gun. Note that the attorney was kind enough to load it up with as many rubber bands as he possibly could for us! 🙂

Some days I really do like my job. 🙂

Sadie & A Suitcase

Posted on March 10, 2009January 10, 2012 by Andi

After our ski trip, I had some luggage sitting around. Sadie didn't waste any time making herself comfortable on it. I am sure she liked this one because it's Chuck's and it smelled like him. She wants nothing to do with my suitcase! 🙂

Salary Crunch

Posted on March 5, 2009 by Andi

My friend sent me a very funny and (kind of depressing) website. You can see how much a few pro sports players make and then insert your salary to see what they player has to do to make your salary. And how many years you would need to work to make theirs. It made me laugh. The pure ridiculousness of it is amusing. 🙂 Happy crunching!

Pearberry

My wonderful friend Katie got me some items from Bath & Body Works in my favorite scent. I don't know that there was a reason, but she surprised me with this sweet gift. Her hubby (whom I work with) brought them to work for me today. There were also a couple books for me to read in the bag.

She's such a thoughtful and fabulous friend and I am so thankful for her! Thanks for thinking of me, Katie! You made my day!

Benihana

Tonight we went to Benihana with some of our best friends. Not all of them could make it, but we had a blast! I am thankful all the time for the wonderful friends we have. We can lean on them when we need it, they make us laugh when necessary and they will come out on short notice and have dinner. It's such a nice feeling to have people you know will be friends for life. We've all been through a lot together and we will be through more as the years go on. For any of you that read this…please know how much you and your friendships mean to both of us!

Kipp

Posted on February 27, 2009January 11, 2012 by Andi

My brother has the sweetest dog. His name is Kipp. Kipp likes to play with balls…and then kill said balls. This is what he was doing with them the other night when we were over there.

He doesn't do this all the time, but sometimes I guess he just can't help himself and needs to destroy it. Thankfully, my brother found a place to buy huge quantities of these balls for quite cheap, so he can just let Kipp have his fun! 🙂

A Thousand Splendid Suns

Posted on February 23, 2009January 10, 2012 by Andi

I just finished this book last night and loved it. I have been reading it a while…because I am a slow reader and always find something else to do instead of read. AND you have seen pictures of what happens to me when I do get around to reading.

This was by the same author as The Kite Runner which I read a while back, Kaled Hosseini. This was different than the first book he did, but had similar undertones. I was fascinated by the fact that he wrote this book from the perspective of a woman. I never would have guessed that a man wrote it if I read it without knowing. He made the characters come alive and you felt like you really knew them by the time the book was finished.

It was not the happiest of books, but I think that was part of the appeal of it to me. It wasn't sugar-coated and you felt like you were there experiencing things with them. His imagery was incredible. I found myself laughing out loud a couple times and I even brought my hand to my mouth in horror a few times. I feel like I know a little more about the life people live in Afghanistan even if it wasn't a depiction of real people. This was the story of the people you don't hear about and the ones who make the most of what they have. They take what each day gives them as best they can and I admired their strength!

You won't be sorry if you read this book.

Built

Posted on February 20, 2009January 10, 2012 by Andi

This is the last of my posts on bags! (At least until I decide I NEED something new!) This bag is from REI like the others. I have also seen them at a few other stores, but I can't seem to remember where I was. 🙂 There are a ton of different things made by this company and I love that they make them out of neoprene. It's so durable and is great for anything!

Here is a picture of the one I have.

This is a picture of the inside…well kind of.

The only thing I wish it had was some type of closing mechanism. I have been thinking of ways I could add one. But since they consider this a market bag…for getting groceries, they assumed a closure was not necessary. So we'll see. Chances are, I will never add one. 🙂

HERE is a link to the various Built items REI sells and you can also see all their products at the Built website. I have no doubt that you'll find something you think you can't live without!
