1 Month Old

I’m not sure where the time went, but our little peanut, Dannie, is a month old! She has been such a wonderful addition to the family! Maddie just loves her little sister and is so sweet and nurturing with her.

Dannie is a great eater…which is evident by her pudgy rolls and chubby cheeks! She is finally starting to go a little longer between some feeds. Unfortunately, most of these long bursts are during the day instead of during the night. Smile I was putting her in a sleep sack or woombie at night and I noticed it was making her very angry not having her hands free. She sleeps so well during the day with them free. So I let her sleep with them out at night and she does great. She doesn’t seem to startle herself too badly and I think she likes to suck on her hands when she can.

Dannie is a strong little thing, too. She does great during tummy time lifting her head and turning from side to side. She has a really strong grip and a strong kick (which I know first hand from all the internal kicking she did to me!). She also really likes sleeping on her side. She will roll around from side to side at night. She is never in the same place I put her down to sleep. Smile I have a feeling she is going to be non-stop just like Maddie. I’m really going to have my hands full!

Dannie is a sweet little baby and I can’t believe how effortlessly she has fit into the family. She doesn’t cry much (knock on wood) and seems to be pretty easy going so far. I have a nick-name for her. I call her “Squishy”. Mostly because she is all cute and squishy, but also because I think I have been watching Finding Nemo too much with Maddie in the car! Here’s a clip from the movie…I say this to Dannie all the time.

Bubble Wrap

Posted on December 12, 2012December 12, 2012 by Andi

Maddie was cracking us up tonight while she was popping bubble wrap. Chuck was smart enough to grab the video camera.

And she didn’t get hurt or anything. Which is what makes the video even funnier! Smile

SNOW!

Posted on December 9, 2012December 9, 2012 by Andi

We finally got our first big snowfall of the season. I bet we got a foot of snow. It’s so pretty and fluffy. I am glad I don’t have to drive in it for a couple days, though. It’s nice to be able to just stay home. Smile

Chuck took Maddie outside to play in the snow today. She did a little better than last year, but still wasn’t that excited about the snow. Here are a couple pictures he took.

Oh I just love her!

On another note, both of the girls are a little under the weather. Dannie got a fairly high temp yesterday and I spent last night and today checking it frequently. Then when I put Maddie to bed, her temp was up a little. They both have colds, too. Sad smile Poor peanuts!

Enjoy the snow!

Grandma Is The Best

Posted on December 7, 2012December 7, 2012 by Andi

While we were at the hospital when Dannie was born, Chuck’s mom stayed with Maddie. She kept her on her schedule, brought her to visit us and did loads of activities with her! Here are some of the activities they did!

And so much more! Linda is in Florida for the winter, so it was wonderful to get to spend time with her since we will miss her when she is gone. I love how much fun they had together and we are so grateful that Linda was here to help us out for a while!

Thanks for everything, Linda!

3 Weeks

Posted on December 4, 2012December 4, 2012 by Andi

Wow…Dannie is already 3 weeks old! Time sure flies. I’m healing well and feeling way better than I thought I would at this point. Chuck went back to work and I’m surviving at home with the girls. Dannie is a sweet baby and Maddie is getting used to saving her around.

If you visit my site, you might have noticed that I changed a couple things: the tickers at the top of the site, some rearranged categories, and added Dannie’s twitter feed. Oh, and our photo gallery link has been updated because we moved it.

I’m hoping to get a little more motivation to blog and add pictures. For now, this will have to do. Now it’s time to attempt getting some sleep!

Danielle Sophia

Posted on November 22, 2012November 25, 2012 by Andi

On Tuesday, November 13th at 9:29AM, we welcomed our second baby girl into the world! She was 7 pounds, 11 ounces and 20.5 inches long, with dark hair.

Danielle (or Dannie) is so very sweet. She’s cuddly and goes with the flow so far. She doesn’t seem to be too bothered by the ruckus her big sister makes! And Maddie doesn’t appear to be bothered yet by the screaming her little sister does in the middle of the night!

My delivery went as well as we could have hoped. Surgery went great, recovery at the hospital went great, we were out of the hospital in the normal amount of time for a c-section, no high blood pressure….and I wasn’t a priority patient. It was wonderful.

We had a bunch of visitors come to see us in the hospital. I am so thankful for all our family and friends for coming to meet our newest addition to our family and see how I was doing. I know I scared the heck out of them when I had Maddie.

I’m still very slow moving, but I’m not taking any more pain killers. Overall, I’m feeling great considering I just had surgery! (Minus a lack of sleep, of course!)

Dannie is almost two weeks old. We are starting to get in a groove. Chuck is home with me for one more week and then I am on my own. I think that is going to be the scariest part of all of this after having Chuck and his mom here to help.

Here are a few pictures.

One Thousand White Women

Posted on November 8, 2012 by Andi

400000000000000278828_s4

Our book club book for the month of October was One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd. All of us really enjoyed the book. Here’s a synopsis:

One Thousand White Women is the story of May Dodd and a colorful assembly of pioneer women who, under the auspices of the U.S. government, travel to the western prairies in 1875 to intermarry among the Cheyenne Indians. The covert and controversial “Brides for Indians” program, launched by the administration of Ulysses S. Grant, is intended to help assimilate the Indians into the white man’s world. Toward that end May and her friends embark upon the adventure of their lifetime. Jim Fergus has so vividly depicted the American West that it is as if these diaries are a capsule in time.

It was a different kind of book. Most of the time, you wouldn’t know that it was fiction. You could almost read it as true events. I found that to be fascinating. There were some great characters as well as some disturbing ones.

I wouldn’t call this one a “beach read” because there were lots of details in it, but it was a good book if you want something slightly more in depth. I think everyone in book club would recommend this book.

Happy reading!

A New Hiding Spot

Posted on November 7, 2012 by Andi

Maddie recently discovered that she can go under her slide. She likes to go under there with books, toys, dolls, blankets, snacks….just about anything. She was being pretty funny one day going in and out of the openings.

Finding this slide on Craigslist might have been one of the best purchases I have made for her!

Lots To Celebrate

Posted on November 6, 2012 by Andi

Today is my birthday. I’m 32. My body feels much older than that at the moment, though. Smile My dear hubby gets to call me old for two months before he turns 32, too. And my dad is bringing me a birthday dinner. It’s a tradition my grandma used to do and now he graciously continues it!

Today is my Anniversary. I have been married to my wonderfully amazing husband for 8 years. I can’t imagine my life without him and I am so lucky and blessed to have him in my life. He is caring, generous, incredibly smart, thoughtful, loving, a great dad and my best friend. Smile

Today I am 38 weeks pregnant with our second little girl. Which means that in a week from today, we will become a family of 4! How crazy! I am so excited and am suddenly feeling a little nervous about everything.

Here’s a picture of me at 38 weeks with Maddie.

About the same. This time I’m not swollen like a blimp, though, so that is nice! I feel enormous right now and sitting on the floor to play with Maddie or bending over to pick up her toys just hurt. I can’t believe I carried Maddie 15 more days than I will carry this one! That seems like forever  in my mind right now. But thankfully, baby #2 will be here next week!

Today we get to vote. I hope that all of you will go vote today. We are lucky enough to live in a country where we are able to vote. So get out there and vote!

Have a wonderful day! I know I am going to enjoy every minute today!

Halloween Night Recap

Posted on November 1, 2012November 1, 2012 by Andi

We had a lot of fun last night for Halloween. Chuck’s sister, brother-in-law and their daughter came over for dinner before trick-or-treating. Then my mom, stepdad and one of my brother’s came over to go trick-or-treating with us. We got Maddie in her costume (we went with Elmo) and we were off!

Maddie did SO well this year. She would walk up to the doors and say trick-or-treat (tee tee), take a piece of candy, say thank you (nay nay), then wave and say “bye.” It was adorable! She was such a good girl! And she loved going up to the houses and seeing all the other kids dressed up. We asked her if she wanted us to carry her bucket…”NO” she told us. That was her prized possession and she wasn’t letting go of it! Smile

Here are a few pictures from the evening! Maddie and I leaving our friends’ house. Someone even stopped me to ask if they could take a picture of my shirt. Smile

Maddie and her friend, Owen. We have a picture of them together from last year, too. I think this will have to be a yearly thing now! I love the looks on their faces in this picture!

IMG_4953

Brian and Amira. I just love the terrified look on Amira’s face! And I love her owl costume Paige made for her. Smile

Hope you had a nice Halloween. I can’t wait until next year when both girls will be able to go! I should start thinking now about costumes for the two of them!
