I started having my first contractions today. They weren’t anything painful and Chuck actually had to convince me that what I was feeling was contractions. Once he convinced me, I started crying. Good tears, of course, but mixed in with a little panic, I think. 🙂

We went to Babies R Us and did the rest of our shopping from our list and got 10% remaining things on our registry. This was a nice relief. During our visit, I kept having various contractions, but nothing was consistent and they still didn’t hurt.

Then we went to Home Depot and I wanted to just wander around. Chuck decided a better place for that would be the MOA, so we headed there for some walking and lunch. We walked around for a couple hours there.

Then we went to Jean’s house to pick up some stuff and I hung out while people lifted heavy things. 🙂

Then dinner with Paige and Brian. I had been having contractions on and off all day without any consistency.I wasn’t having many by the end of the night. Bummer. 🙁

I had a doctor’s appointment this morning. Last week, the baby’s head was low and my cervix had started to soften. This week, the doctor said I was almost dilated to 1 cm. She could get her fingertip in, but not her whole finger. So my body has made some progress in the last week.  Thumper’s heartbeat was 145.

I was 37 weeks yesterday and therefore, this also means that Thumper is full term. You are welcome to make your arrival any time now, baby!

We’re getting pretty excited. I am more and more uncomfortable everyday and my feet are getting huge. The doctor wasn’t worried about the slight increase in my weight gain because she said it was all water. I am going to feel like a dainty fairy once all this water is out of me!

So, things are progressing. Everyone is different. So now we just wait and see when my body and this baby are ready to do their things.

My brother came over today to take some maternity pictures. I am so excited to see how they turn out. I didn’t think I really wanted/needed them done at first, but he took some cool pictures and I am glad we decided to do it. Now I just have to wait a short time to see them while he edits them. I think it will be nice to have them and put them in a photo album for Thumper to see when she gets older. I am sure she won’t care that much, but I will like having them! 🙂

We also packed our bag for the hospital the other night. I had a huge break down when we packing. It finally hit me that we were having a baby. Not that I didn’t know it before, but it finally clicked that there won’t be anymore “Chuck & Andi”. There will always be another person included in our family! I am so excited about it, but it was just a bit of panic for a few minutes.

I also found the need to find a stuffed animal and put it in the car seat to be sure I knew how it worked. Talk about weird!

After Adam came over to take pictures, Chuck and I decided to make a trip to Target to get the rest of what we needed and return things that were left from the shower to return. We are now pretty set. We have just a couple things left to get from Babies R Us.

Wow….it’s crazy that we are so close to meeting our little girl!

I had another baby shower today. This one was given by my mom, step mom and aunt, Patty. This was my family shower. It was so nice see so many people come to celebrate this little baby’s arrival. We got tons of presents and I feel so blessed that this baby is already loved by so many people!

My cousin, Patrick and his wife, Tina, gave me more garbage bags full of clothing that their girls have grown out of! I am so thankful that people are handing these things down to us!

They also gave us two grocery bags full of books. I can’t wait to put them all on the shelf and then start reading to her! How exciting! I know I want reading to be a big part of Thumper’s life, so I am blessed to have been given so many books from people!

sleep sheep….and twilight turtle

Posted on January 14, 2011April 5, 2016 by Andi

A friend at work (who is having a baby in a couple weeks) gave me an adorable gift! It's called a “Sleep Sheep”. It plays music and is really soft! I can't wait to try it out.

When I was looking at the website, I also found the “Twilight Turtle”. AND I WANT HIM SO BADLY!

And look what he does!

Did I mention that I WANT HIM SO BADLY!?

So if you need a gift to get me the baby, this would be PERFECT!

*UPDATE* I got a different version of this at a shower. I had completely forgotten that I had registered for it. It does basically the same thing as the turtle. It just happens to be pink…and a butterfly! It matches the room perfectly!

I had my doctor’s appointment today and I was happy to hear that the baby was still head down. This was the first of the internal exams and the doc’s comment was “wow, she’s low”. So that was good. And my cervix had started to soften. I was 36 weeks yesterday, so any progress at this point is good.

puzzle

I love puzzles. Always have. I just don't put them together nearly enough. I have so many of them sitting in my cabinet waiting to be put together. For Christmas, I got a new puzzle from Chuck's mom. When she came over for Christmas with Chuck's sister and sister's husband, we had a huge snowstorm and they ended up spending the night. So Chuck's mom, his sister and I started the new puzzle that I got.

I just finished it the other night and it was really pretty when it was done, so I wanted to share it with you.

I also got to work on a puzzle when we went to see Chuck's grandparents this year for Christmas. His grandma always has a puzzle going and I love working on puzzles and chatting with grandma.

I am glad I got to work on a couple puzzles. With only about 4 weeks left until my due date, there isn't going to be much time for puzzles. 🙂

Do you like puzzles? Have you done any recently? Do you like ones that are a certain number of pieces or puzzle shape? Or a favorite puzzle brand?

I went to Let's Dish this weekend with a friend/neighbor who is having a baby a couple weeks before me to stock up our freezers. So I am going to have lots more meals to share with you. AND there are lots of tasty looking meals in February, so I am hoping to get even more meals made then. 🙂

At least I am cooking meals and posting pictures of them! I have to have something else to share with you aside from the humdrum of my life. And you'll probably be begging for food posts after this baby arrives and all I talk about is her! 🙂

new orleans style andoullie pasta

Posted on January 3, 2011 by Andi

This was a meal from Let's Dish. I knew Chuck was going to love this meal (with all the different meats and the spicy flavor), but I was unsure how I would like it.

Here are the ingredients:

First you cook the bag with the meats and seasonings.

After cooking the meat, you add the pasta. This pasta was already cooked, so you could just add it right to the meat mixture. I added a little bit of water to mixture after adding the pasta to make everything mix together a little better.

That's pretty much it. 🙂 Well, for me. I took out some food for me to eat and it looked pretty tasty.

For Chuck, I added the cheese.

I'm not one for cheese, but if you like cheese, I am sure this looks pretty darn tasty to you!

I had high hopes for the meal, but I just didn't really care for the flavors in this meal. Chuck, on the other hand, loved it. So I guess it was half a hit! 🙂 We still have one more of these meals to try, but it will probably wait until the others are gone since I won't be very motivated to cook it again. Or I should just make it for Chuck some night and he can have lots of leftovers for work. 🙂

Have you made any meals recently you thought would be really tasty and turned out not living up to your expectations?
