what time is it?

Posted on October 22, 2010 by Andi

Time for a new snazzy watch! That's what time it is!

Someone posted this link recently and I fell in love!

I added a pink one to my wish list right away!

I have no idea what they are like in person and I don't even care. I just know that I want one! I think you should add one to your wish list, too!

pineapple-cherry dessert

Posted on October 22, 2010 by Andi

I found this recipe from Kraft Foods. It was a huge hit and SO simple to make!

1. Dump in pineapples.
2. Dump in cherry pie filling.
3. Dump on box of cake mix.
4. Dollop with butter.
5. Bake.
6. Eat.

Seriously! It was that easy. And it was so good.

Here is it out of the oven.

And on the plate.

And with whipped cream.

I will definitely make this again. Maybe even try some different fruits. What a great, simple dessert in no time!

10/20/10

Posted on October 21, 2010 by Andi

I had my doctor’s appointment today and my glucose test. The drink we had wasn’t as bad as some people have said. You have to drink the whole thing within 5 minutes and then get your blood checked within an hour of drinking it. I drank it in just over a minute. The hardest part about it was how cold it was!

I heard the heartbeat again at the appointment and Dr. Louie said I was right on track and doing well. And of course, baby was doing great, too. I had gained 12 pounds at this appointment which was just the number she was hoping for. So yay!

Now just another 4 weeks until the next appointment.

the girl who played with fire

Posted on October 20, 2010January 10, 2012 by Andi

I just finished this book. This is the 2nd book in the trilogy. I read the first book and liked it. I borrowed this one from someone at work. I liked this one better than the first book. It was a bit more suspenseful and a faster read than the first one.

The ending really made you want to read the 3rd book. The way it ended, could have been a chapter ending. There was a short excerpt for the 3rd book at the end of this one and I skimmed the first page. It really starts up right where this books ends.

If you haven’t read these books, I would recommend them. At some point I will get around to reading the 3rd book, but I have a couple other books on my list to read first. Stay tuned for those!

Happy reading!

bird seed wreath

Posted on October 15, 2010 by Andi

Last year I came across instructions to make bird seed wreaths. So I made them for a few people as Christmas gifts. They were a big hit.

First, you'll need water, bird seed and gelatin.

Then make the gelatin as it instructs on the packaging.

Next, spray a mold with cooking spray.

Then add the bird seed into the gelatin and stir.

Then put in in the mold and press down to pack it in tightly.

Let it sit in the mold over night or longer. Some pieces will fall off the edges when you take it out of the mold. We experimented using a little extra gelatin to hold it together better.

I then attached a ribbon through the ring for hanging on a tree and wrapped them up. I wouldn't recommend wrapping them too early. We let one sit around with a towel over it for a couple days and it started to get moldy. You'll get the hang of it with a little trail and error. And the supplies are REALLY cheap for this gift!

I found the recipe/directions for it in a magazine, but I know there are lots of links to it online, too. HERE is one link.

And note, you can make them in other shapes, too. I saw lots shaped like balls or ornaments and they were really cute. I don't know how you hang them, though. Some more research may be needed for that one!

Enjoy!

green cupcakes

Posted on October 14, 2010 by Andi

I made green cupcakes. I think I made them for St. Patrick's Day. Yeah, I know…that was MONTHS ago, but here are some pictures anyway (which aren't great since they are from my phone)!

They were tasty. And green! I think I am going to do this again sometime. Maybe make all sorts of colors. I'll have to find a reason to make a billion cupcakes, though.

Anyone need/want cupcakes?

another painted room

Posted on October 13, 2010January 11, 2012 by Andi

Last weekend we painted another room in the house. This time it was our office upstairs. We are calling this the “project room” because we have an office on the first floor that we are going to keep clean, so this room will be the one we leave messy.

This is the way the room looked temporarily while we were moving things around.

Then I got it all ready to paint:

We picked a blue color from Behr called “Russian Blue”. I think it turned out great!

I like to look from the project room into the baby's room and see the colors! They look so nice together!

Our house feels so colorful! I love it! I'll be sure to post more pictures once we get this room (and the others) put together.

brooke's baby shower

Posted on October 12, 2010January 10, 2012 by Andi

The other day I posted about one of my best friend's baby, Anne. Well, I finally got around to getting the pictures from Brooke's baby shower for Anne uploaded. (I know, I know, I am way behind, but life has been busy. Give me a break!)

Brooke was so adorable pregnant! See!

My friend Hillary and I put together her shower and we had such fun. We got her a cake, balloons, lots of food, some games…

Hillary is sitting on the chair on the left. I had just found out I was pregnant a few weeks before this. I wasn't feeling great this day. I was so tired and not very hungry, but thankfully, I was able to pull everything together well for Brooke!

Brooke had a great time and loved everything we did, which is all that really matters.

There are a few more pictures HERE if you are interested.

Aren't these adorable!? I saw them online and I haven't stopped thinking about them since I saw them. I want to make them so badly! 🙂

HERE is a link to the recipe to make them. You have to scroll down a little bit to get to the recipe.

Let me know if you try these and how they turn out. If I make them, I will be sure to take copious amounts of pictures of them! 🙂

wish list

Posted on October 10, 2010August 23, 2011 by Andi

I have been gradually updating my birthday wish list. There's a link to it on the right column. Or you can just click HERE. I realized that my birthday is less than a month away and people might want ideas of things to get me other than baby gifts. Of course, I would be so excited to get baby gifts, too. But there are a few ideas on there anyway!

I really want the Magic Bullet that is on there. I have been making lots of smoothies and I think this would make it way easier. And I wouldn't have to wash my blender everyday. What a pain!

I also really like the watch I listed on there. It's different than anything I have seen before and I think it's really cool.

I still haven't bought any maternity shirts, but I know I am going to need sweaters come winter time. So I am thinking that as long as the sweaters are longer, they will still fit me. I would like things that I will still be able to wear when I'm not pregnant. So if you can find something like that, I would be so happy. I have found a few sweaters recently that I like from Old Navy. So that may be a good place to look.

If you are interested in getting something for the baby for me, my two registries are at Target and Babies R Us. I have also added these links to the right sidebar list of links under “Baby Hays”.

Happy shopping for me! 🙂
