Today we had another ultrasound and found out we’re having a GIRL! When the u/s tech told us, I cried! I would have cried either way. I was so excited! I made sure to ask her how sure she was. She told us that she can’t tell anyone 100%, but would say with 95% certainty that we were having a girl. I’ll take that!

When we were alone, Chuck said, “oh man, I’m in trouble!” Smile He knows he’s going to be putty in her hands! We really couldn’t be happier!

a gift for a friend

Posted on September 22, 2010February 11, 2011 by Andi

I made a pair of earrings for a friend at work. I show her all the stuff I make myself and since it was her birthday, I decided to make her a pair. She wanted blues, blacks, and silver. She also wears a lot of pearls, so I was pretty excited with the way these turned out!

This is the card I gave her with the earrings:

I even hung the earrings from the black string that was wrapped around the inside of the card. She thought that was really cute.

And she LOVED the earrings. She put them on right away! I think the best part about giving people something you made is seeing how much they like it when you make them something just for them!

officially a disaster

We finished cleaning out the rest of the big items in my office. All that was really left was my big Ikea bookshelf. We had to empty the shelf to move it. So this is where all my books are right now:

This is where the bookshelf ended up (and please excuse the mess since I haven't unpacked from this weekend):

And this is what the rest of the room looks like cleared out:

There are a few things left in the closets and a few small things from my shelf that is still in the room. But those are very minimal things. Tomorrow morning we find out if we're having a girl or a boy! I can hardly wait! It's going to make all of this seem even more real!

Chuck and I also decided that we are going to paint the other rooms the new offices are going in. It seemed like a good time to do that and I know I am getting anxious to start adding some color to the house. I think we are going to paint the office on the main floor a green color. I really want to paint it the same color we painted our dining room at the last house.

But we'll see! 🙂 All I know is that I am so excited for all the changes taking place at our house!

——-
p.s. Did you notice that I made my pictures bigger? What do you think? Do you like them a little bigger? Should I go bigger still?

We were sitting on the couch watching a movie and I could tell the baby was moving a lot. So while we were sitting there I just had Chuck leave his hand on my belly to see if he could feel anything. A couple minutes later he pauses the movie and says “I just felt something! That is so cool!” He was so excited to feel the baby kick and I am was glad he could, too.

I know there will be many more times, but there’s something about having Chuck finally feel it for the first time that makes me so happy! I loved seeing him so happy about it, too!

This baby is going to change our lives and I am so thankful for this blessing and for all the changes it will bring. It’s a new chapter in our lives that we are so excited to embark upon!

labor day weekend

Posted on September 19, 2010 by Andi

Look at me! I am posting about something that happened only a couple weeks ago instead of a couple months ago! Woo hoo!

Over Labor Day weekend we went up to the north shore with a couple friends. They are also having a baby a few weeks before us. So it was a nice get away for us all before our lives busy themselves up with babies.

On the way up there, Chuck and I stopped at the Soudan Underground Mine. It was so cool. Chuck had been there a few times and we have talked many times about going there. So this time we made the trip. You ride this creepy “elevator” that they used to haul the miners up and down and then take a ride into the mine. It stays around 50* year round there. It was very cool to see.

You can also walk around and see some of the buildings that they used for mining. It was a chilly, rainy day, but I am so glad we went. HERE are the pictures from the mine.

We did some hiking, sitting around, eating, hanging out by the lake…HERE are our pictures from those various activities.

We also played some tennis. I played a VERY little bit. I am terrible at tennis and this belly of mine was just not helping. I was getting exhausted quickly, too. So I took some pictures instead. HERE are those pictures.

We had a great weekend and it was so nice to get away for a long weekend!

We went up north for my cousin Matt’s wedding. It was fun to see people, but both Chuck and I were really tired and only made it to 10:00…which was later than I thought we would be out. We had a nice time seeing so many family members and seeing how excited people are for us.

the girl with the dragon tattoo

I figured I should read this book since everyone had been talking about it. I don't normally get into books that people talk about, but since it wasn't a preteen book that everyone loved, I figured I would give it a go. I found it at Target for $5.99. I like books for $6!

It was really slow going at first; maybe for the first 100 pages or so. But thankfully, it picked up and got more interesting. By the end, I didn't want to put it down!

The very end was a little slow and mildly confusing, but I think it was setting up for the next book.

I don't know if I will buy the next book (even though it is also at Target for $5.99). I had someone offer to loan their copy to me. I may take them up on that. I am also trying to break my habit of needing a complete set of things. 🙂

So if you want a suspense with some interesting twists that is also a quick read, I would recommend this one.

Happy reading!

kimono dresses

Posted on September 17, 2010 by Andi

I bought a few of these dresses in a couple colors shortly after I found out I was pregnant. It was still warm outside and I knew I was going to get bigger. I am so glad I did. They are so comfortable and so versatile. I can make them casual or dressed up. I am sure I will even wear them into the winter with tights and boots!

making room for baby

Posted on September 16, 2010January 30, 2011 by Andi

Last night we moved a bunch of stuff out of my office. This is the room that will belong to Baby Hays in a few short months. I only took two pictures of my office since we moved in last May and those were taken before I hung pictures on the walls.

This weekend we are having a few relatives spend the night so we thought it would be nice to free up the room (since we needed to do it eventually anyway) so we could set up an air mattress in there for a couple of them.

Here's what it looks like now:

So that is the room mostly emptied. We still need to move the big book shelf and there's still stuff in the closets, but it's a big move. We are going to move Chuck's office downstairs to the study…a room we are currently just housing things that don't really have anywhere else to go. That room is the first room when you come in the front door.

We took all the stuff from my office and put it in Chuck's current office until we make room for his stuff in the new location. It's a little cramped, but it will work for now. 🙂

So there you have it. The first step in making room for baby. I am sure there will be lots more to come and I'll try to post pictures of all the changes!

Since it was raining this morning and I was tired of standing on the bus, I decided to try out my new plan of getting up, showering, getting on the bus right by my house and going to the gym downtown before work for my walk.

It worked out pretty well. I forgot how long of a walk it is to the gym from my office/bus stop, so I may have to walk to 25 minutes instead of 30 when I am at the gym so I am at work a few minutes earlier than I was today. No big deal.

I am happy it went smoothly, though. I still get up at the same time and get home at the same time. I just have a different routine between getting up and getting to work. I think it will be nice. I was really planning to do this when it got colder outside. Then I wouldn’t have to drive as far to the bus stop. So I just started this a little sooner.

And I am glad that I did!

I also noticed that some of my shirts that weren’t so tight on me a couple weeks ago, are a little too tight now. 🙂 Guess I really am getting bigger! 🙂
