Chuck and I ordered a new counter for the kitchen the other day. Since we have been looking at new houses, we are also getting ours ready to sell and new counters was about the only thing we had left to do. So we picked out this pattern. It's really going to look nice in the kitchen. It has the color of the cabinets, white for the appliances, and a little hint of red to go with the walls. This little sample doesn't really do it justice, but I'll take some pictures when it finally gets installed.

Chuck just accepted a position as a Software Developer with Microsoft! I am so excited for him and so very proud! He's really excited about the job and they gave him a great offer. He'll be starting in a couple weeks. He will be one of the first few people working in the Minneapolis location of Microsoft. They are currently looking for a permanent location, but we'll both be downtown for a while. When we decide to go back to work….we go big! A law firm and Microsoft! 🙂 Yay us!

So today we get an email saying that there is going to be a “Meet & Greet” for people to say hello to the new people in the office. (I think there are 4 of us that have started recently.) So we got Dairy Queen Pizzas! How yummy! I just recently realized how close the DQ was from my office…which is going to be a very bad thing. Thankfully I do have to walk a little bit to get there…but it will be on the way to Chuck's office when he starts working down here…(Which is a whole different post!) So I was happy about that!

On top of the pleasent surprise of DQ pizza, today was payday. This isn't exciting to everyone, but I have been working at home for a number of years and this was just fun! To have money in my hands was such a nice feeling. So that made my day!

And..on top of that, tomorrow is our firm “Staff Appreciation” lunch. I have heard nothing but good things from coworkers about what they feed us. So I am really looking forward to tomorrow, too!

This weekend we have a couple parties to go to for friends, so we have a fun-filled weekend, too! In summary…life is good!

Not too long ago, all the ice went off the lake. It's so nice to see that because it's when I start to feel like Spring is really here. Then, Saturday morning, we wake up to a lovely little gift from Mother Nature….an inch of snow! Lovely. The end of April and it's snowing. Thankfully it didn't stay long, but it was cold, snowy and incredibly windy all day Saturday. Today, we wake up and it's gorgeous, but chilly outside. This afternoon…you guessed it…more snow. At some point I think we just upset the heck out of Mother Nature and she is paying us back for something… 🙂 The really strange thing…last weekend it was in the 70s! Here's to hoping we have better weather (or even possibly consistent weather) soon! HA…right! We are in Minnesota…land of the craziest weather on Earth!

One day last week I got home and found this on my office ceiling. Well, I didn't notice it at first. Chuck put this together for me and it's so cute. He pinned it up to the ceiling. It looks like there is a cat looking down at you from a hole in the ceiling. From what I understand, this was a pretty big thing online for a while. I found one site called Ceiling Cat that shows some other examples of it. You can also find lots more if you go to Google Images and searching for ceiling cat. Now I have my very own!

This is a picture of the case Chuck built for his ship. This shows all the lighting he did for it and how col it looks all lit up. There are lights on the top, sides and bottom. The top lights are attached to the case. The side lights are positionable by a great system Chuck put together. The bottom lights are inside the wooden piece inside the case. This helps aim them at the ship and keep them from blinding you when you look in. He did a great job and I wanted to show the finished project all lit up!

Today was my first day at work. It was so much fun. I was given an abundance of information and it's going to take a while to process it all. But everyone was so nice and welcoming and I think I will fit in well there. I was taken to lunch and got to see where some things are located around the skyway. I think I am going to have a headache for a while as I learn everything. But it's a new experience and I am loving it so far! And I got to wear some of my new clothes! 🙂

I am also thinking about taking the bus downtown. I'll get some time to read and I won't have to have the stress of driving in the traffic. It takes the same amount of time to get there, but it's so much cheaper on average than driving there myself and then parking downtown. So we'll see if I am brave enough to try that out later this week!

My friend Kellyn was kind enough to come shopping with me today to look for some new work clothes. We did great! I am glad I had her come with me. We got a number of pants, tons of shirts…it was quite productive. I am so excited to start wearing it all. Too bad I can't wear them all on the first day. 🙂 Thanks for your help, Kellyn. We'll have to do it again sometime!

Today I accepted a legal secretary position at Westman, Champlin & Kelly law firm in downtown Minneapolis. They concentrate on patent, trademark and copyright law, licensing and related issues. I am so very excited. When I went to interview with them, everyone was so nice and welcoming. I couldn't be more pleased to be working in such a great environment. I start on Monday, so I will be doing some shopping this weekend for work clothes! Working full time will be a change, but I am ready and excited for a new challenge and opportunity! I'm off to go be giddy for a while! 🙂

Oh, and all day, while I was waiting to hear if I got the job I was thinking about something Homer Simpson said. “The waiting game sucks. Let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos!” So I told Chuck this, and he sent me a little something! I am horrible at waiting so this was a good way to pass the time for a few minutes! Maybe you'll be able to waste some time playing it, too! Man do I wish I had this game!
