I saw these online and I thought it was funny. So I made one. I hope you get a good chuckle out of it! 🙂

A Bass-tacular Afternoon
On Saturday my brother and his girlfriend came over and we went on the boat a while. We played on the jet ski and then went fishing for a bit. I was on a roll. I never catch many fish when we are out, let alone ones to keep! I caught 2 keepers and threw the last one back. I *WAS* fishing with live bait, but well, it needed to be used! 🙂
My first one, I caught it on my second cast. He's about 1 1/2 pounds.
This was the second one. He's just barely over a pound, but good eating size.
This was the third one. He was really tiny. We didn't even weigh him, but I was still happy to catch three!
This was the one Chuck caught. It was really nice. About 1 3/4 pounds. He was fishing with fake bait, so his is worth more on the scoring scale!
Now I know I am the only person that calls it this, (because the people standing on a dock I told looked at my crazy, then went inside) but this is a picture of “Bass Thumb”. I call it this (for those of you that don't know) because when you hold a bass by it's mouth, their teeth are like rough sand paper. Nothing real sharp, but can tear up your thumb a bit. So I get really happy when it's fishing season and I get to have “Bass Thumb” again….assuming I catch some to hold!
We ended up giving the fish to Chuck's mom and step-dad. They always say, “if you catch some extra fish, bring us some. We would love it.” So we brought all of it to them since we got home pretty late from fishing and we were going to be gone all Sunday. *Note* She sent us an email to tell us it was really good!
Surprisingly, we didn't catch any pan fish. Katie and I were fishing with live bait (leeches and worms) and Chuck and Adam were using various fake baits. We caught all but the first one trolling near docks. It was lots of fun! I have tried the fake bait method and I don't have the patience. I need to perfect the technique a bit more and then I bet I could catch more that way. Moral of the story, I like fishing with live bait! 🙂
Wooden Clock
Chuck has been working very hard on this clock! And I have to say I am very proud! It also has to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen anyone make!
He made it for his dad for father's day. It turned out so perfectly! It does tell time, and he did cut and make everything himself. The dark wood is Walnut. The hour markers are Maple. The hands are Bolivian Rosewood. The gears are a craft plywood. The detail is amazing and I have never seen anything like it before. His dad loved it! There are some more pictures of it HERE. There are pictures throughout the process in there as well as some more finished pictures.
An Apron Adventure
It wasn't so much an adventure as it was a fun project. 🙂 I made an apron for my brother's girlfriend, Katie for her upcoming birthday. Here are a couple pictures.
This was the only way I could think to take a picture of the whole thing. It has a couple pockets in the front. And the material is really fun. I have some leftover that I will make something with!
I tried putting it on to take a picture and it didn't turn out too well! I forgot my camera, so I didn't get a picture of her with it on. It fits her well and it so cute!
Katie really liked it and I think I would make another for someone. It wasn't a hard project. I used a pattern from my Mother-In-Law and it was really easy to follow. Although, with my skills at following directions, I may have done all the steps out of order and it's a wonder it turned out at all! 🙂
Charity Fishing Tournament
On the 8th, Chuck and I got up really early (about 4:30 am) to go to a charity fishing event. My dad has been a part of it for a couple years. It's held on Lake Calhoun and the goal is to get Urban and Suburban pastors together. So people volunteer to take their boats out and bring people fishing with them. There were just under 40 boats there. Calhoun is an electric motor only lake, so it was slow going with just a trolling motor. It was quite cold and windy that day and we didn't catch many fish. Just one small walleye. One guy caught a HUGE Northern. We did have fun, even though we didn't catch much. HERE are the couple of pictures I took at the event.
Five Ways To Cool Off After Working Outside
This was in the Star Tribune today and it made me laugh. I thought I would share.
—–
Head down to the cellar with a Stephen King book. Sit on the floor and read until you start to shiver.
Grab a bottled water from the fridge. Drink half of it. Go back outside and pour the rest over your head and chest. (Or drink out of the bottle, but let a good bit of it spill onto your chest.)
Turn on the sprinkler and stand in a strategic spot.
Open the freezer and insert your head until it's just short of comfortably numb.
Heed the wisdom of the late, great Johnny Carson: Take two snow cones and stick them in your armpits.
Wives Night Out
Last weekend for the long Memorial break, Chuck and a bunch of his friend went to International Falls to a friend's cabin for fishing and hanging out. They had a good time even though it was quite cold up there. The wives that were in town decided we should go out to dinner and hang out while they were gone. We went to a really tasty restaurant called MASA. It's on the Nicollet Mall just North of Britt's Pub (where we went after for a cocktail) We had a great time and I think we have decided we need to do that more often! Here are the two (yes two) pictures I took.
Mech Wars 10
This weekend is Mech Wars 10. Chuck used to build and fight robots there with friends and his dad. A couple years he won first place and then retired, but we have volunteered at the events since then. This year I am going to be a judge. It's going to be so fun!
HERE is the link for the event. Take a look around the site. It is Saturday 10am – 4pm, $6 for adults and $5 for kids at the door. They are a dollar cheaper for each if you buy them ahead of time. It’s at the Eagan Civic Arena.
I just wanted to let everyone know. 🙂
M & Ms
Who doesn't like those silly M & M commercials? I recently saw my favorite one yet. 🙂 HERE is a video of the commercial. It's the Addam's Family!
Don't forget to look at some of the other funny commercials after this one ends. They just make me smile!

Addam's Family Lyrics
They're creepy and they're kooky,
Mysterious and spooky,
They're all together ooky,
The Addams Family.
Their house is a museum
Where people come to see 'em
They really are a scream
The Addams Family.
(Neat)
(Sweet)
(Petite)
So get a witches shawl on
A broomstick you can crawl on
We're gonna pay a call on
The Addams Family.
Charlie's Baseball Game
I went to one of Charlie's baseball games this weekend and it was so cute. They are all so little. The kids are even pitching this year. I didn't get to see Charlie pitch, but I was told he did a good job. They didn't win, but they had a great time. They are all still learning. it's cute.
HERE is a link to some pictures I took at the game.
