sparks

My dad's dog, Sparks, is the goofiest dog I have seen in a long time. He's about 60 pounds and thinks he's a lap dog. When we were at my dad's house for Thanksgiving, the dog decided he needed to sit on my brother and his girlfriend's laps. See?! Goofy dog! He also rests on a chest by the front window to watch people outside. He wouldn't sit there long enough for me to get a picture, but I assure... Read More Read More ...

cookies

Let me start this by saying I am not a baker. I would love to be a baker, but I have a tendency to want cookies and baked goods more well-done than most people and I don't really like cookies, cake, frosting, or most other goodies that you bake. Now that I am pregnant, though, bring on the cookies. Seriously….yum! So I made some. These were sugar cookies out of a bag. (Come on, you didn't think I was going... Read More Read More ...

a special ring

For my birthday, Chuck got me a gorgeous ring. I was so surprised because we had said we weren't doing gifts. But this wonderful husband of mine, always surprises me with the best gifts! He got it in pink because (1) I like pink, and (2) because we are having a baby girl. I thought it was so sweet and thoughtful. This is another gift I got this year that means so much to me! ...

a couple wonderful gifts

One of my best friends got me a very thoughtful birthday gift. It was this necklace. She wanted to get me something for the baby, but also something that was for me. I think this was a wonderful compromise of those two things. I have started wearing it every day. It's also a locket, so I printed a (very) small picture of of ultrasound picture of the baby and put it inside the necklace. No one else could probaly tell... Read More Read More ...

i am loved

Look at all these wonderful birthday and anniversary cards we received! I tried to set them all up and take a picture. I don't usually do this, but it just seemed like a good year to remember all that I am thankful for. And I know I am mostly thankful for all my loving family members and friends. ...

cheesy beef and rice burritos

Guess what….I made a Let's Dish meal. This one was burritos. I forgot these were in the freezer, but I am quite glad I found them in there! Here are all the ingredients: First, make the rice. I like to thaw out my salsa (and other ingredients when necessary) by putting hot water in the sink and letting the salsa sit in there to thaw. This doesn't end up making it hot, but more room temperature and much easier to... Read More Read More ...

the help

I borrowed this book from a coworker. She said it was one of her favorite books she has ever read. I have heard other people say it was the best book ever, too. So, I wanted to read it. I thought it was good. I wouldn't buy the book and give it to everyone I know, but I would recommend it to people. It was a good look at the differences in the upper class and the “help” from years... Read More Read More ...

baby's room

I know some of you are dying to see pictures of the baby's room (I have a hard time calling it the “nursery” for some reason). So I snapped a couple this weekend after the baby shower. We got the wall decorations hung that came with the bedding over the crib. I still need to wash the bedding (what? I still have 12 weeks!), but at least it's in the crib. Chuck's mom made the curtains for us. I love... Read More Read More ...

first baby shower

My wonderful friends threw a great shower for me over the weekend. Katie is really close to having their third baby and put together most of the shower. She dropped everything off the day before. Unfortunately, Katie didn't end up making it to the shower (she hasn't had the baby yet either), but we had a fabulous time. She was definitely there in spirit! My friends Brooke and Hillary helped out with the other details and made sure everything went... Read More Read More ...

kung pao chicken pasta

I haven't posted a Let's Dish meal in a while, so I thought I was due. Here's all the plastic sacks we had for this meal. First cook the chicken and the pasta. Next, remove the chicken and cook the sauce. Then you add the chicken back into the sauce. Now, drain the noodles and add them to the chicken and sauce. Finally…EAT! This was so tasty. We made it spicy and it was so delicious! I should really make... Read More Read More ...

My friends threw a wonderful shower for me! We actually had our first huge snowstorm of the year today. I had a number of people cancel, but even though I had a minor breakdown about it, everything was just fine! Better than fine! We had a great time and I got so many gifts for the baby! She is definitely going to be spoiled! After the shower, we had a birthday celebration with my mom, Dave, Adam, Charlie and Katie.... Read More Read More ...

a dinner….with gifts

Last week we went to dinner at one of my best friend's house. I work with her husband, so he drove me to his place after work and Katie cooked a delicious dinner (stir fry!). She had a crib mattress for us and some baby girl clothes to go through. Now you aren't going to believe the amount of clothes I ended up with! I was swimming in all the clothes! Can you see that there is a second tote... Read More Read More ...

oh 30

Yesterday I turned 30. There I said it. No second 29th, 29 and holding or anything like that. Just 30. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. Although I am not sure why I thought it would be scary at all. None of my other birthdays have scared me. Chuck sneakily gave me an annibirthary gift. He gave me tons of candy and snacks (I'm pregnant. I like snacks. He is wonderful!) In one of the bags... Read More Read More ...

Today was my 30th birthday and our 6 year anniversary! I can’t believe how fast time is flying by! Chuck started out the day by giving me a present. He found lots of goodies I like (treats, snacks, candy) and also wrapped up a ring inside a bag of peppermint kisses. It was so cute! The ring was gorgeous. It has diamonds and pink sapphires. Because I like pink AND because we are having a girl. I thought it was... Read More Read More ...

11/3/10

We went to dinner at Katie and Chris’s house tonight. Katie made a really tasty stir fry for dinner. It was fun to see her getting so big! She’s due on December 6th with their third baby, Connor. Katie and I took a couple pictures together since it might be the only time we are ever pregnant at the same time. She’s also been having some various contractions and her family is worried she’ll have the baby very soon. Katie... Read More Read More ...

chicken cordon bleu turnovers

You'll never guess…this is another Let's Dish meal. This was not what I expected when I made this. I was picturing more of a Hot Pocket of sorts. But I was in for a pleasant, tasty surprise! This is what they looked like when I opened them from the packaging they were in. The turnovers get placed on a cookie sheet that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Then you bake it and it turns out like this: I was... Read More Read More ...

11/2/10

Our baby classes started tonight. There are 7 couples there, including us. We did some introductions and learned about the early signs of labor and more about contractions. We also did some breathing and relaxation exercises and learned about some other ways to sleep with various pillows. Next week, we watch our first birthing video and talk about car seats. I think each week I’ll feel a little more prepared. Although, I don’t know that you can ever really be... Read More Read More ...

this weekend

We had a nice weekend. I took Friday off (which is something I never do). I did a few things around the house since I am too tired when I get home from work to do anything. Then my brother and his girlfriend came over Friday night to hang out and play pool. We had a great time. Saturday, I got together with a friend and went shopping for things for a shower we are throwing next weekend. After all... Read More Read More ...
