Next Door

Posted on May 30, 2009 by Andi

They have started building the house next door to us. There is one partially finished two houses down, but on Tuesday (5/26/09) they started digging out the house that will be next door. I saw at the model which house will go there and I am so excited to watch its progress. Plus, I am happy they are building a house an not leaving a big lot there. I would rather have a house for sale and have them get it done than decide in a year to start construction next door again.

So these are the pictures I have taken. In the first one you can see the side of our house. My phone didn't really do the hole justice.

I wish I had taken some with the big truck sitting in the middle digging out the dirt! They dug out the house on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday, they had people getting ready for concrete. Chuck worked from home, so he took some pictures for me with the concrete truck!

In the last picture, you can see the partially finished house (two doors down). I think it's cool I can watch a house being built. I am sure the future neighbors will think I am nuts when I tell them I have a documentary of their house being built! 🙂 I would love to see one of our house!

I love my house!

Posted on May 19, 2009 by Andi

Many people have asked about the new house and how moving went. So I thought I should write about it.

Friday
Friday went well. We had the trailer and cars mostly packed Thursday night except for some clothes we were putting in at the last minute. So we jammed as much as we could in the cars and left our house about 8:45 for the closings. We were planning to drive slowly, but it wasn't going to take us THAT long to get to the closing by 11. So we stopped in Wayzata, had some lunch, and made our way to the first closing. We were still there early, so we went to a mall and walked around a while.

Closing went well and the new owners were really excited. It was the wife's birthday the following day, so she was very excited for her birthday present of a new house!

After closing my uncle/realtor took us to lunch. We still had some time to kill before the next closing at 3:15, so we went to the bank and then read until it was time.

This closing also went well. We were hoping to be out of there before too long since it was looking like rain and we wanted to get to the new house and unload the trailer and cars that night.

Chuck's sister's boyfriend doesn't work too far from the new place, so he met us there after work and helped us unload. That went really quickly. I put some things away and then we went to have dinner with some nearby family. Then after dinner, they came to see the new house and then we drove back to Mound to sleep and rest for the next day of moving.

Saturday
We got up about 5:30 and packed the few things left in the house…what was left of our bed, food, a few bathroom things and some clothes we left out. We were done by about 8:30 and headed to the storage unit to rent the moving truck and start loading.

My brother and his girlfriend came over to help us and we made pretty quick work of loading. We were done before 1 and went to grab some lunch and then they followed us to the new house. It was a cute little moving train we had…Chuck in the moving truck, me in the suburban with the trailer and my brother behind me in his truck with more boxes in it. 🙂

We got to the house and they helped us unload the cars, trailer and a little of the moving truck. And see the house, of course, since they hadn't yet.

After they left, we put part of our bed together so we wouldn't have as much to do when we got back from the graduation party we were attending for Chuck's cousin that evening. So we cleaned ourselves up a bit and drove to Brooklyn Park (about an hour away) for the graduation party. At least we got to see family and they were feeding us! That was very welcomed by this point!

We then went home to finish putting our bed together and we quickly passed out fell asleep. This was our first night in the new house!

Sunday
We got up and did a few things around the house and then Chuck started to unload what he could from the moving truck before his sister and her boyfriend came to help. We made quick work of the moving truck and by 12:00 we were bringing the truck back and finding some food.

When we got back, Chuck's mom and step dad were there with his grandparents to see the house. They loved it! After their tour, we put more things in the rooms they were going to be living in. Then Chuck's cousin came to help and move the last of the things upstairs. I am thankful he came because poor Chuck had been moving for days and these last few things being done by someone else were quite helpful!

After his cousin left, we went to find some dinner and make a Target run. We then collapsed on the couch for a couple hours until it was time for bed.

——-

So overall, we had a really productive weekend. We still have a bunch of things to put away and another storage unit to clean out at some point, but we'll get there. At least we live there now. That's the exciting part. It's so fun to come home to it everyday. I even cooked dinner in it last night! 🙂 We also found out after a trip to Home Depot, that it takes 9 minutes to get to Home Depot and 5 minutes to get to Cub. There's a Target between them! I love it!!!

After I get things put away a little more, I'll start planning a time to have people over!

Closing time….

Posted on May 15, 2009January 30, 2011 by Andi

I was thinking about the song Closing Time by Semisonic when I wrote the title to this post.

Today is the big day. We close on the old house at 11 and have until 11 tomorrow to be out. At 3:15 today we close on the new house. And we're bringing a full suburban/trailer/jetta load on the way to closing so we can move things in the new house. We will be sleeping at the old house Friday night and do a couple last minute things Saturday morning. Then we're out of there!

When we went to the final walk through for the new house on Monday we got this cute little gift!

They wrapped the front door and the kitchen counters for us. We were also given fresh cookies! How can you not get excited with all that fun stuff!

I will be MIA for a few days since we'll be completely busy this weekend! Saturday we are loading up the moving truck with some helpers and going to a graduation party in the evening. Sunday we have other helpers to unload the moving truck into the house. And there's another potential dinner Sunday night…if we feel up to it! Thankfully the following weekend is another long one so we'll have an extra day for moving. We will still have one storage unit to empty gradually.

Hope your weekend is as fun-filled as ours is going to be!

More pictures of the new house

Posted on May 12, 2009January 10, 2012 by Andi

I went to the house this weekend with my mom. It was a great Mother's Day gift for her. She was just as excited as I was when I saw it and even squealed the same way I did. 🙂 So I'll show you some of the highlights. The rest you'll have to come and see for yourself!

First, you can see the FLOOR PLAN here if you missed it the last time.

*I am editing this to add that after I see all of the pictures up here, I realize I should have turned on more lights in the house before taking some of these!*

This is the front of the house. Note that we now have a driveway and walkway up to the house. And when we went there today, we even had a mailbox!

This is the 3rd garage. Some people have had a hard time figuring out how it works.

This is the inside of the garage.

This is what is across the street. This is where the park and pool will be.

This is the view of the house when you walk in the front door. The study is to the left and the dining room is on the right.

This is a picture of the living room. I just love all the built-in cabinets. There are some similar to these at the top of the stairs. I also love the floor length windows in the living room and the bottom portion of them open.

This is a picture of the living room from the kitchen area. You can see the stairs in this one, too.

This is the eat-in kitchen area.

This is the kitchen from the living room. Note the double ovens! The sink is in the island and the door is the pantry.

This is a view of the cabinets over the stove top. I think the glass doors add such a lovely touch!

All of the lower cabinets pull out. I this is so useful! I can't wait to use them!

There are garbage cans that pull out, too. These are in the island just to the left of the sink. The dishwasher is also in the island to the right of the sink. (The rug was in there when the house was staged. It isn't mine.)

This is one of the bedrooms upstairs. I love that this one has a seat built in. I always wanted one of these growing up.

This is the master bathroom. The shower is off to the right and the tub is to the left. The toilet and closet are to the right around the corner. There is a gorgeous closet in the bathroom, too. You can see that in the reflection in the mirror.

This is the tub in the master bathroom. I can't wait to fill it up with bubbles! I am sure that will be where I land after all the moving!

And this is the master closet. I know there are a couple of you out there that really want to see this!

There are a couple pictures I left out…believe it or not. 🙂 I didn't see a point in showing the other bare bedrooms or the master that doesn't have anything in it. The retreat isn't that thrilling without anything in it. And of course, there are other bathrooms that aren't that exciting. So I am sure I will take a new batch of pictures once we get things in there. But I thought this would satisfy the curiosity out there. Enjoy!

We aren't going to be homeless….

Posted on May 3, 2009 by Andi

Because we bought a new house! It's in Rosemount and is in an adorable neighborhood. We close on the 15th. Yes, that is the same day that we close on the current house. So we'll close on one, get the other and move the few things out of the current home into the new one the same day. It will be a busy weekend, but it is all worth it! We've been packing all weekend and have just about everything we have in storage. We are also happy because this is a fresh start for us. We really need it after the last few months!

This is the MLS picture of the front of it.

Now since it is brand-spanking new, there isn't grass, a driveway, a mailbox or a walkway up to the house, but they are all on the way! 🙂

Here are a couple pictures of the floor plan.

The 1st floor:

The 2nd floor:

The basement is unfinished, which we love, and there's nothing to do on the first and second floors. It's painted and everything!

Here is a picture of the neighborhood. Our house is circled.

We are on a corner lot and there will be a pool and park across the street from us. I am so excited! 🙂

I don't have any pictures of the inside yet. I will take those soon and share them! But you'll just have to be in suspense a while longer! 🙂 We can't wait to have people over to see it!
