Friends!

Yesterday Maddie and I went to the Mall of America with our friends Trisha and Chelsea! The girls were having a great time handing toys back and forth between the strollers and laughing at each other while they ate their McDonald’s lunch! They are going to be great friends!

Trisha took this picture of the girls…and yes, it is in a restroom! Smile

I love that Maddie is hamming it up for the camera. Such a silly girl! Smile Can’t wait until our next play date!

Straw Collector

A couple weeks ago, Maddie and I went to the zoo then lunch at the mall with Trisha and her daughter Chelsea. (The girls had a great time at the zoo. Maddie showed Chelsea the ropes as she followed Maddie around!) After lunch and walking around the mall a little more, Maddie took out all of her veggie straws and put them in the try on her stroller. She was so proud of herself.

She did eventually share some with Chelsea, too.

Basket Head

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, my daughter is a strange one. Here are some pictures of her putting a basket on her head. She does this ALL the time.

Yup….that’s our girl. Smile She giggles the whole time. She also likes to put a bucket on her head as well as a plastic toy pot from her kitchen. Oh, and she was wearing a colander as a hat the other day, too. Love her!

Daughter

In one of the videos yesterday, Maddie was dancing to “Daughter” by Loudon Wainwright III. I guess it was in the soundtrack for the movie Knocked Up. Huh. Guess I don’t pay very close attention. Chuck had me listen to the lyrics. What a sweet song. If you have a little girl, you will appreciate this song.

——-

Daughter

Everything she sees, She says she wants
Everything she wants, I see she gets

That’s my daughter in the water, Everything she owns I bought her
Everything she owns

That’s my daughter in the water, Everything she knows I taught her
Everything she knows

Everything I say, She takes to heart
Every time she takes, She takes apart

That’s my daughter in the water, Every time she fell I caught her
Every time she fell

That’s my daughter in the water, I lost every time I faught her
Yeah I lost every time

(Instrumental)

Every time she blinks, She strikes somebody blind
Every time she thinks, Blows her tiny mind

That’s my daughter in the water, Who’d've ever thought her
Who’d've ever thought

That’s my daughter in the water, I lost every time I faught her
Yeah I lost every t
ime

(Instrumental until the end)

——-

Now I have the song in my head. Smile

Dancing Maddie

First, I am sure there are a few of you out there who are saddened by my laziness and lack of posts about Maddie. Well, cheer up! Here are some videos!

So the other night, Maddie insisted on wearing a fleece jacket around the house. I thought I would just take her pants off so she wasn’t too warm. Then she decided to start dancing around the living room. She looks like she is River Dancing. And she just started dancing this way recently. We were laughing so hard at her!

A little while later, we took her clothes off down to her diaper. We never do this, but she was so funny. I got her to dance at the beginning and end of the video.

And here is just one other random video I took of her that night.

Shortly after these videos, Maddie brought her shirt over to Chuck and wanted it back on. Thankfully she is modest. Hopefully she will stay that way! Smile

A Communicating Toddler

Maddie has started to communicate with us a lot more. She knows a few animal noises, says a few words and even signs a couple words. I got a few videos of her doing some things on command! The only things I forgot were asking her to give me a hug and a kiss. Which is so stinking cute!

Here is Maddie making animal noises….a cow, a pig and a monkey. (We are currently working on sheep and Chuck is teaching Maddie to say “hi” when you ask her “what does a Maddie say?” Smile

And here is Maddie signing “all done” and “more” in her own little way. She’s trying to say “banana” but it comes out more like “balalalalalala!” And she says “up” when she wants to be picked up. She just started that one the other day. She says “up” a few times at the end of this video.

And she has started to sit down when I tell her to say “please.” I am not sure where she picked that up or why she started to sit down. But it’s very sweet. And there’s another “up” thrown in there, too! And after watching this video more closely, it looks like I am going to push her down by her head. Weird. Not sure why I was doing that. Smile I wasn’t actually going to push her down!

Toilet Paper Roll

Maddie likes to take the trash can out of the downstairs bathroom and carry it around and likes to play with the one thing that is in the trash can…a toilet paper roll. The other day she was playing with the toilet paper roll. It kept using it like a cast. It was really cute!

Fun With Noodles

During lunch yesterday, Maddie was having some of my rigatoni noodles. I would cut them into smaller rings for her to eat and she kept putting them on her finger to eat. It was really cute.

Maddie also learned her own version of signing “more” yesterday, too. So she would finish the noodles then “more, more more.” It was really cute! Maybe I can get her to learn some more signs. She does “all done” and “more” now. Smile

Another Zoo Trip

I took Maddie to the zoo another day (actually, I have been going about once a week with her) and I took a few more pictures of some animals that were very active during this visit.

There were some very friendly birds!

And some very playful swimming bears!

A pacing leopard. It must have been feeding time, because the wolves, Canada Lynx and pumas were all pacing this morning.

These Asian Dogs were chasing each other into the water and hiding behind fallen trees. They were quite amusing, but hard to capture on my phone camera. Smile

It was a cool day at the zoo, but only a handful of people were there this morning. It was a nice morning for a walk around, watching the animals! Smile

Visitors

My aunt, Mary Lou, was in town from South Carolina. My mom brought her over with her other sister, Patty, to hang out and see Maddie. Mary Lou hadn’t met Maddie yet. Here’s a picture of Lou with Maddie.

And here is a picture of Maddie with Lou, my mom, and Patty!

Isn’t it amazing how much my mom and her sisters look alike? There’s one more sister and two brothers and they all look so much alike.
