Taggies

Posted on August 3, 2011August 1, 2011 by Andi

Chuck’s mom is fabulous at sewing. She asked me to keep my eye open for ideas for her to make things for Maddie. I suggested a Taggies blanket. Maddie is obsessed with tags on her toys. So Linda made these for her.

This little one has bells inside.

Which made me want to try making one. This is how mine turned out.

I actually made an identical one to the one above for a friend, then thought it was so cute that I made another for Maddie. For this one, there is a rattle inside it that I took out of an old stuffed animal I had when I was a kid.

Then I thought….these would make cute gifts for some other friends. So I made some for a couple friends of mine who just had babies. This is how they turned out.

And this one, I took pictures of, but I hadn’t sewn it together yet. So this one has pins in it. Smile

I put buttons inside them so they make noise. Maddie loves hers, so I hope my friends’ kids like them when they are a little older. I think these are going to be a go-to gift for me to give to new babies!

Now, Chuck’s mom also made some balls for Maddie with tags on them. She is already playing with them and chewing on them. How cool are these?

And she even has another project in the making for her and I can’t wait to share it with you!

Giggles

Here’s a video of Maddie laughing the other day. She was sitting on Chuck’s lap and he was holding out the video camera. I was just leaning towards her and she kept cracking up. I love her laugh!

Maddie likes daddy’s computer

Posted on August 1, 2011August 1, 2011 by Andi

Now that Maddie is rolling all over the place, we need to start baby proofing. But really, what’s the harm in her learning about computers early?

In this next picture, do you see all these toys behind her? Yet she insists on going right to the laptop. Smile This one was just taken today.

Swim Baby, Swim

Posted on July 28, 2011 by Andi

Maddie and I have gone to my mom’s house a couple times to go swimming. This video was from a couple weeks ago when we were there swimming. Maddie LOVES the water. We were there again today, and she was even more active than she is in this video. It’s so fun to watch her go. She never stops moving! Smile

5 Months Old

Posted on July 16, 2011 by Andi

How did my baby get to be 5 months old already? Where does the time go? I think I this same thing every month. I am sure, as a parent, you never really stop feeling this way and wondering how your kids grew up so fast!

Maddie is a rolling machine. Last month I said she was rolling over. Now she rolls across the room and back. She doesn’t want to sit on her own. I think it’s because she would rather be moving and playing with toys than sitting. She really likes to roll right to the laptop cords. Smile Maddie has gotten really good at reaching for toys and will try SO hard to reach something she can’t quite get. It’s so fun to watch her try to figure it out and learn!

She can’t sit in her Bumbo (blue chair) any more because I had her on the floor in it and she rolled herself right out! Little stinker! She is VERY determined! I have no idea where she gets that! Smile

A friend gave us a jumper thing they weren’t using. The way this one works is the part she stands on bounces. Maddie likes it because she just wants to stand up. So she just stands there and plays. She loves it.

She is starting to get her feet under her. While I write this, her butt is in the air and she is kind of on her tip toes. She’ll be crawling before I know it!

She rolls all over her crib. It’s a surprise where I am going to find her in the morning. I love that she can make her way all around the crib, though. It makes her like her bed more.

Speaking of bed, Maddie has been putting herself to sleep. Up until a few weeks ago, I could nurse her to sleep if I needed to help Chuck with something and needed her asleep fast. Not anymore. She doesn’t want to snuggle to sleep, doesn’t want to nurse to sleep, so she’s left with putting herself to sleep. She usually cries for a minute then falls asleep. Nap time is the same way. Some days, she will take longer at nap time to sleep, but bedtime goes pretty smoothly. My mom was even able to put her to sleep when Chuck and I went out for dinner. So I am very happy about that!

Now we need to work on her eating out of a bottle. She just bites it or licks it. I imagine she would eat from it if she were really hungry. Eventually she will have to learn! I’m not nursing her forever.

We haven’t started solid food yet. We are waiting a couple more weeks until she is closer to 6 months. But I am going on a girls weekend trip in August, so she better learn to like bottles and some food (so there aren’t all bottles for feeding) before I go! Smile At least the sleep thing should go all right!

Maddie is still a super happy baby and really goes with the flow. She loves everyone! Well, everyone except Scary Grandpa Dave, my step-dad. When she sees Dave she wails. He is the only person she has ever done that to. She is so suspicious of him. So we’re going to need to see Dave more often so she doesn’t think he is so scary! Smile

I love her little personality and how her face lights up when she sees us. When we leave a room she follows us with her whole body to see where we went. I couldn’t have gotten luckier with a better baby! I love her more every day!

Now for some pictures. I couldn’t get her to be happy without the spoon in her bed. So the spoon stayed. Smile

Here are the 5 month pictures I took.

4 Months Old

Posted on June 21, 2011 by Andi

I’m a little late posting this. Time just got away from me.

My little peanut is growing up so fast. On the 16th, she was 4 months old already. She has learned so much in the last month. She rolls over….lots! She has been doing great sleeping. Since she started rolling over, we had to take her out of her Woombie. She would sleep like a champion in this thing. So it took us a little while to get her used to sleeping without it. And now she’s back to sleeping really well!

Maddie is very interested in faces and touching everything. She wants to put everything in her mouth. She especially likes putting her feet in her mouth. She has such a little personality and knows what she wants (or what she doesn’t want). It’s so amazing to see how much she has changed in 4 short months.

Today Maddie had her 4 month doctor’s appointment. She is 13 pounds, 10 ounces, 26 inches long and healthy as can be. She was such a good girl while the doctor checked her out. She had an oral vaccine and two shots today. She cried for a minute after the shots, then was happy as could be expected. She stayed happy the rest of the day, too. Such a big girl!

So here are some pictures I took of her on her 4 month birthday. Eventually she decided she was done with the pictures and threw a fit! Smile

Here are the rest of the 4 month pictures I took.

Silly Girl

Posted on June 15, 2011June 15, 2011 by Andi

I was looking through my phone and found some silly pictures of Maddie that I thought I would share. (With Maddie captions.)

I found my feet AND my pacifier!

I could play with my feet all day!

Um…you’re upside down. How did that happen? (Or maybe mom just didn’t flip the picture.)

Yeah, I’m cute. I know it!

Look Ma! I roll over now!

This bar is kind of in my way.

I have absolutely no idea how I ended up here. Last thing I remember was being on my back in the middle of my play mat. Oooh….BIB!

Mom cracks me up when she tickles my tummy!

They call me Pebbles.

I LOVE my feet. Where have these been all my life?

And I’m spent! It’s hard work holding these feet and chunky legs up!

What a difference a year makes

Posted on June 2, 2011 by Andi

Last year on Memorial weekend I found out I was pregnant. I was reminiscing about it last weekend over Memorial Day. I remember taking that first test and how nervous I was. And how I wanted to take a dozen more just to check, but I was also scared that they might not show the same result. I remember going to a friends’ house for dinner the day I took my first pregnancy test and coming up with excuses as to why I couldn’t drink (we just made sure Chuck drank enough that I had to be sober to drive home. He didn’t enjoy this task!) I recall one of my best friends coming over that weekend and needing to tell her even though I had only taken the test a couple days before, hadn’t seen a doctor and hadn’t told anyone else. Or sending another best friend a text message right after I told Chuck.

What a difference a year makes.

Since that little test, our lives have changed. All for the better, of course. We have our little Maddie girl. I can’t remember what we did before she was here. It’s like she has always been a part of our lives.

She is the best baby and I am so thankful God gave me this beautiful little girl to be a mother to. I can’t count how many times a day I pick her up, kiss her and tell her “Mommy loves you”. I am sure she’ll be sick of hearing it. But for now she just looks at me with those big blue eyes and smiles that gummy little grin at me. And then I tell her again!

She is getting such a fun personality. She is learning so much every day. She isn’t even 4 months old yet and I can hardly remember how tiny she was when she was born. She just learned how to grab her feet. She doesn’t know what to do with them yet, but she grabs them. I grab her hands and help her sit up and when she’s up, she just looks at me and grins from ear to ear. She acts so proud. She’s also just a couple days away from rolling from her back to her stomach. She got her body there the other day, but doesn’t have the arm strength quite yet to lift up her head. She has also started to really grab for toys when you dangle them in front of her. She puts everything in her mouth (mostly her hands). She’s also getting more vocal and making lots of funny noises. She will smile at us and at other people and she LOVES to sit up and see the world.

So now that I have babbled on and reminisced, I have to share some recent pictures of her!

What a difference a year makes. I love my Maddie girl!
