Excuses, Being Sick & Photos

Posted on October 2, 2012September 30, 2012 by Andi

Well, it’s October 2nd and I realized I haven’t posted much of anything on here for most of September. I also didn’t take a whole lot of pictures this month. And I never did a 19 month post about Maddie either. What a great mom! Smile The reason has been my lack of motivation. I have had a cough for 5 weeks and a cold for 2 weeks. They have really put me out of commission. We also had a couple busy weekends thrown in including my brother’s wedding (which I still need to write about, too).

I have been a huge (literally), lazy bum these past weeks. So everything has been suffering; from house cleaning, to cooking meals, to blogging. Therefore, I am going to try to catch up on life a little bit here.

So here’s a little Maddie Photo Dump.

Maddie looking cute!

Chuck recently redid our office. And Maddie loves to know what we are doing at every minute. Here is Maddie “helping” dad build some shelves.

WP_000640

I look a lot better than I feel in this picture, but I was happy I got Maddie to sit on the couch and watch a movie with me.

WP_000643

Maddie loves to put on shoes and socks. Here she is wearing a pair of my socks around after putting them on.

WP_000649

We went to the zoo with Trisha and Chelsea and Maddie was obsessed with the scuba diver!

WP_000664

Maddie LOVED her cousin’s helmet. We really need to get her one soon.

WP_000666

Maddie decided she wanted to eat her snack at her play table. She also decided that her bear needed to sit there and have a snack with her. (I think she is missing from the picture because she is collecting more items for the table.)

WP_000667

Yep….we have a collector.

WP_000668

At lunch one day, Maddie decided to put her hands over her ears and started saying “lalalalala.” It was hilarious.

WP_000689

Of course, peek-a-boo was next. Smile

WP_000691

My mom bought Maddie a little fake fish. There are some magnets in the base that makes them move. They look like Nemo and Dory. Maddie loves them!

And here are all the pictures from September that I took of Maddie.

Videos

Posted on October 1, 2012October 1, 2012 by Andi

Here are a couple videos of Maddie that I haven’t posted yet. The first one is Maddie swinging at the park. Chuck takes her there most nights after dinner and she LOVES to swing.

The other one is from one day when I was gone and Chuck was watching Maddie. She has been into the song Gangnam Style which you can read about here. Chuck showed it to me and said “this is what happens when dad is left in charge.” Smile

It cracks me up. She’s such a fun little girl and she gets more fun every day! I can’t believe I get to keep her! Smile

Moon Over Manifest

Posted on September 30, 2012September 30, 2012 by Andi

MoonOverManifest

I recently finished reading Moon Over Manifest and really enjoyed it. This was our book club book for September. In early October, the author is coming to a local place to talk about the book. I think it will be fun to hear what an author has to say about their book. And I will be sure to let you know if anything exciting happens. Smile

Here’s a description of the book:

The movement of the train rocked me like a lullaby. I closed my eyes to the dusty countryside and imagined the sign I’d seen only in Gideon’s stories: Manifest—A Town with a rich past and a bright future.

Abilene Tucker feels abandoned. Her father has put her on a train, sending her off to live with an old friend for the summer while he works a railroad job. Armed only with a few possessions and her list of universals, Abilene jumps off the train in Manifest, Kansas, aiming to learn about the boy her father once was.

Having heard stories about Manifest, Abilene is disappointed to find that it’s just a dried-up, worn-out old town. But her disappointment quickly turns to excitement when she discovers a hidden cigar box full of mementos, including some old letters that mention a spy known as the Rattler. These mysterious letters send Abilene and her new friends, Lettie and Ruthanne, on an honest-to-goodness spy hunt, even though they are warned to “Leave Well Enough Alone.”

Abilene throws all caution aside when she heads down the mysterious Path to Perdition to pay a debt to the reclusive Miss Sadie, a diviner who only tells stories from the past. It seems that Manifest’s history is full of colorful and shadowy characters—and long-held secrets. The more Abilene hears, the more determined she is to learn just what role her father played in that history. And as Manifest’s secrets are laid bare one by one, Abilene begins to weave her own story into the fabric of the town.

Powerful in its simplicity and rich in historical detail, Clare Vanderpool’s debut is a gripping story of loss and redemption.

I really enjoyed this book and so did the other members of book club. I would definitely recommend this book for a good read.

Happy reading!

Sweethearts

Posted on September 22, 2012September 21, 2012 by Andi

Today is a big day! My little brother (well, older of my two little brothers…not the 14 year old) is getting MARRIED! I’m a bridesmaid. Chuck is a groomsman. Maddie is the flower girl. It’s going to be a day filled with fun, chaos, excitement, smiles and laughter (and some tears if you are our weeping aunts)!

I’m so happy for them. I know they have been stressed, but I keep telling them everything will be ok. And at the end of the day, they will be married and get to have a big party!

I’ll post pictures when I can. But right now, I need to make sure I have everything the three of us need for the day gathered.

Gangnam Style

Posted on September 21, 2012September 21, 2012 by Andi

Chuck showed me this video the other day. This morning I showed it to Maddie. I can’t count how many times I have heard it this morning. Every time it stops, Maddie signs and says “More.”

In case you haven’t seen it….

I sent it to my brother. Hopefully we can get the DJ to play it at the reception on Saturday. Smile Hahah! Psy (the singer) was on Ellen and he said the key is to “dress classy and dance cheesy.” I love it!

And I’m not really sure if watching this a hundred times is better than Maddie’s other favorite….”Sexy and I Know It.”

Pretzels

Posted on September 20, 2012April 5, 2016 by Andi

I love pretzels. The saltier the better! While I was gone last night, my wonderful hubby made some amazing pretzels for me! (He is the best, by the way!)

WP_000686

They were so good! He had some coming right out of the oven when I was walking in the door! He also made some cheese sauce to dip them in. I was in heaven!

If you would like to make some for yourself, here is the recipe he used. I think I am going to make some of these for a playdate I am hosting next week! MMMMM!

Katelyn Noelle

Posted on September 12, 2012September 12, 2012 by Andi

One of my best friends and her husband recently had their second little girl. We went to visit them after she was born. She has such a proud big sister!

Maddie loved Kate. She loves dolls and babies, so I wasn’t surprised that she wanted to be in my pocket when I was holding the baby. I hope Maddie likes her sister as much!

Such a happy, beautiful family!

We are so happy for our friends and since Maddie and Anne will be great friends, I know that Kate and our next baby girl will be the best of friends, too!

State Fair

Posted on September 6, 2012September 5, 2012 by Andi

I look forward to the end of August because it means the State Fair is here! I really only go for the food. We went last year, but Maddie didn’t really get a whole lot out of it. This year was totally different. Aside from getting some new teeth and being a crabby wabby, she seemed to have fun! And she seemed to enjoy the food as much as we do!

I have not been able to get Maddie to eat corn. She picks it out of things. But apparently I have been doing it wrong. I needed to slather it in butter and salt and that’s apparently all it takes for her to want to dive right in!

IMG_4079

She wrinkled up her face every time she took a bite. Then asked for more. it cracked us up! And I have noticed her pretending to eat her plastic toy corn. But she still has yet to eat corn off her plate at a meal. Smile

Then we had some fries! Maddie loves fries and ketchup, so we knew this would be a hit with her. She sat so nicely in a shady spot we found and had a grand old time with her fries and ketchup (or “da do” as she likes to call ketchup).

IMG_4095

I decided to try a pretzel this year with a coupon someone gave me. Maddie was skeptical at first, but then decided she liked licking the salt off the pretzel. Thankfully she wasn’t interested in my cup of cheese that went with it….more for me!

IMG_4098

Before we left, we made sure to get some cookies! Maddie, of course, loved them! We did find that she took a couple bites, then decided that she just wanted the chocolate chips, so she started sticking her fingers in the chocolate….and then got it all over herself. Smile

IMG_4109

And no, it doesn’t look like she’s a huge mess, but for her, this is messy! She also had it all over her leg and up her thigh from wiping it on her leg. Smile

The only food we got that she didn’t want to try was a pronto pup. Again, more for me! But I am sure next year, she’s going to want her very own!

We took her a kid area that we found. She could color and put stickers on a fan. She refused to color, but she loved the stickers!

IMG_4089

Here’s one I thought was cute of Maddie and me.

IMG_4099

Then, I tried to get a cute picture of Chuck and Maddie. Maddie was not cooperating. She’s adorable, but man, she cannot just look at the camera! Smile

Nice, Maddie. We’re going to have to have a talk with her when she is older about that crazy tongue of hers! One thing I love about these pictures, though is how blue Chuck and Maddie’s eyes are! Wow! I just love them both!

Overall, we had a great time! Oh, and yes, we did take Maddie to see some animals and she made noises at them. Smile And she loved the DNR building. She didn’t understand why she couldn’t pet all the stuffed animals. Silly girl. Smile

HERE are all the pictures we took this year at the fair in case you are interested.

29 Weeks!

Posted on September 5, 2012September 5, 2012 by Andi

I’m 29 weeks now. Well, yesterday. According to the ticker on my site, BG#2 (Baby Girl #2) is the size of a squash. She is definitely much stronger than a squash, though! Oofda, this girl has some muscles!

tickerticker (1)

I’m only excited about 29 weeks because I have 10 weeks left until my scheduled c-section! The weather is getting cooler and reality of how little time is left before BG#2 gets here is sinking in! Smile

Here’s a little picture of me this week.

WP_000631

And here I was at 29 weeks with Maddie.

IMG_3180

Hard to tell, but I might be a little bigger this week this time around. Smile My doc says I am right on track. (And I need to wear that dress in the above pic! It’s pretty cute!

Miss Maddie and I are off to the zoo for a while! Enjoy your Wednesday!

The Sweetness At The Bottom Of The Pie

Posted on August 28, 2012 by Andi

I just finished reading this book for book club.

The-Sweetness-at-the-Bottom-of-the-Pie

Here’s a quick description for you:

It is the summer of 1950–and at the once-grand mansion of Buckshaw, young Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison, is intrigued by a series of inexplicable events: A dead bird is found on the doorstep, a postage stamp bizarrely pinned to its beak. Then, hours later, Flavia finds a man lying in the cucumber patch and watches him as he takes his dying breath.

For Flavia, who is both appalled and delighted, life begins in earnest when murder comes to Buckshaw. “I wish I could say I was afraid, but I wasn’t. Quite the contrary. This was by far the most interesting thing that had ever happened to me in my entire life.”

I have to say, as I was first reading the book, I was pretty excited about it. As I got into it, though, I was bored and kind of hoping it would end soon. (Great way to motivate you to read it, huh?!) But once I finished the book and was able to see the book in its entirety, I actually enjoyed it. Or maybe just appreciated it a little more.

I found the main character (an 11 year old girl) a bit hard to take seriously. She had an astounding vocabulary which just wasn’t believable. I don’t know how I would have felt if the author had dumbed it down, but it was just hard to take her very seriously because it didn’t seem like things an 11 year would ever say; even a very intelligent one.

I don’t think I’ll be rushing out any time soon to read the other books in the series, but it was a cute twist on a mystery novel and a lighter read than some we have read for book club. I think a young teen would enjoy the book, though. They may not understand some of the vocabulary, but there wasn’t anything in it that a younger reading wouldn’t be able to handle.

So, this might not be for you, but if you know of a young reader looking for a fun read, this just may be for them!
