Maddie had a wonderful 2nd birthday party. We had a bunch of friends and family come celebrate with her. Chuck’s mom made Maddie a dress with Elmo on it. She even made Elmo’s face!

Here are some pictures of everyone mingling and eating. The kids loved playing with the balloons we blew up. I even drew Elmo faces on them!

She even blew out the candles all by herself!

And ate some cake. Well, she mostly just ate the frosting!

We opened a few presents before she went down for her nap. The ones from her grandparents and aunt and uncle.

Along with a bunch of other cute things, my mom gave her a music box that I think was mine.

Uncle Adam and Aunt Katie have her a LeapFrog My Own Leaptop. She loves that toy! And I do, too. Now she doesn’t want my iPad as much because she has her own. And you can program it with her name and emails from specific people. It’s really cute! And she loves to bring it in the car with her. It sings the ABCs and Maddie just can’t get enough of that song!

Another one of her favorite presents was a Melissa & Doug Slice and Bake Cookie Set. We didn’t take it out of its packaging before her nap, but she wanted to play with it as soon as she got up and it is definitely one of her favorite toys right now.

We opened a bunch of other presents. Some from us, and the rest from her party.

Maddie had a great day and we were so happy so many people were able to come celebrate with us! Thanks for making our little girl’s big day so fun!

It’s happening. My baby is growing up! Maddie turns 2 today. I can hardly believe it was only two short years ago that this beautiful little girl made us the happiest people ever and made us parents. She did give her momma a rough entrance into the world, but she was worth it all!

Maddie is so smart, loving and so very silly!

She loves building with daddy and daddy loves it, too.

She’s always trying new things and she loves when her doll tries them with her.

She’s a wonderful big sister. She loves Dannie so much and Dannie lights up when Maddie is around.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Maddie! Mommy, Daddy and Dannie love you to pieces!

Our dear, sweet, sometimes infuriating, always silly, lovable, adorable toddler is almost 2. She’s 23 months old and I spent time today making invitations for her birthday.

She says so many words and phrases that there’s no way to keep track. We are pretty certain that she isn’t going to ever stop talking now that she can communicate. 🙂 And she has been gradually correcting the way she says many words.

She likes picking out her clothes and dressing herself. She is obsessed with shoes and slips and socks.

She gets more and more independent with every passing day. She will bring me things and is quite a good little helper.

Maddie loves the alphabet. We do alphabet puzzles, sing the “ABC’s” and she points out letters all the time.

She’s starting to play by herself for longer periods of time. Which has been really nice.

Maddie has started pretending a lot more….with play food, her dolls, dressing up….it’s so fun to see what their brains will come up with!

Stickers. Maddie is obsessed with stickers. She will go through sheets at a time. Sometimes they go on paper or the sofa, but most of the time they go on her, me, dad or Dannie.

She is an imitator. My favorite imitations are when she copies me with her dolls for something I’m doing with Dannie. She likes her own set of pumping tools when I pump and pretends to nurse her dolls….from her belly button! 🙂

She is incredibly sweet with her sister. She kisses her before bed, brings her toys when she cries and likes to use her stuff!

She’s been slightly more snuggly and will sit on the couch with us to watch a movie and sometimes eat popcorn!

Dolls are probably her most prized possession. And her very favorite is the cabbage patch kid from my childhood….whose name is Maddie Jeanie!

She is so fun and growing up to have such a big personality.

Happy almost 2nd birthday. Just one more month of being 1! This is so exciting and a little sad at the same time!

Maddie & Her New Toys

I guess I wasn’t quite done with christmas posts. 🙂

Maddie has started dressing up recently. She loves wearing our shoes, but she has begun using other items to wear.

The last one is my favorite. She wore that to go meet our friends’ new baby in the hospital. She got lots of compliments from people. 🙂

Maddie also likes picking out her own clothes (sometimes when given options, other times all on her own), wearing our socks, baseball hats, a monkey towel she has for the pool, she attempts to wear her sisters clothes (and successfully wears her hats and tiny socks), and really anything else that looks like it could possibly be worn. She is a special one. But I love that she knows what she wants!

My mom invited us to see Santa put on a show at Bachman’s. Maddie thought it was fun to watch.

Maddie actually sat pretty well for the play.

After the show you could take pictures with Santa. We decided to skip that. It was close to lunch time and the line was LONG! So we walked around the store a bit. Maddie hammed it up for my mom to take some pictures.

In that picture she was saying “cheeeeeese.” And throughout the show and lunch, sweet little Dannie just slept in her carseat! I love newborns and their ability to sleep all day!

*Note* I’m really behind on my blogging. So I’m going to try to do more from my iPad during my middle of the night feedings with Dannie. The posts might look slightly different, but I figured I’d sacrifice beauty to get some posts done!

Maddie was cracking us up tonight while she was popping bubble wrap. Chuck was smart enough to grab the video camera.

And she didn’t get hurt or anything. Which is what makes the video even funnier!

We finally got our first big snowfall of the season. I bet we got a foot of snow. It’s so pretty and fluffy. I am glad I don’t have to drive in it for a couple days, though. It’s nice to be able to just stay home.  

Chuck took Maddie outside to play in the snow today. She did a little better than last year, but still wasn’t that excited about the snow. Here are a couple pictures he took.

Oh I just love her!

On another note, both of the girls are a little under the weather. Dannie got a fairly high temp yesterday and I spent last night and today checking it frequently. Then when I put Maddie to bed, her temp was up a little. They both have colds, too. Poor peanuts!
