Just one more month and this little girl will be 1! How is that even possible? I’m deep into birthday planning and the invites will be in the mail soon!

Maddie is learning things so quickly! It’s hard to keep up with everything that she is learning.

Some of the things she has been doing this month are giving hugs and kisses, blowing kisses (getting better, but still working on this one), waving to everyone, being shy around people and burrowing her head on my shoulder, understanding words (which is really kind of creepy…she understands what we say and reacts…amazing!), imitating more, remembering things exist when they are out of her view, being more snuggly, eating food by biting it with her teeth (she has 6 – 4 on top, two on the bottom) instead of needing small pieces of food, taking her bow out of her hair, putting everything behind her head, walking everywhere, following us around the house, bringing items to me (books for me to hold while she turns the pages)…phew…the list just goes on and on!

Maddie loves to eat. She will eat just about anything. Here she is enjoying sloppy joes. It is one of her favorites!

She even rubbed it in her eyes.

Maddie loves the chair Grandma Vicki and Grandpa Dave gave her! She plays on it all the time. She likes to stand on it and sit on the arms. She did make the chair tip over once and went over the back of the chair, then later that day, she went over the side. It was a rough day.

I went to get her up one morning and she had taken the clothes off her doll. Impressive!

She also loves her block stacker.

But not as much as she loves her milk!

Last weekend we had Chuck’s mom, sister and brother-in-law over for our final Christmas celebration.

We had a wonderful time opening gifts. Or watching Maddie open gifts.

And here is a video of Maddie playing “swords” with Paige.

We also had a birthday cake (DQ ice cream cake) for Chuck’s birthday.

We had a great time seeing everyone! Especially Chuck’s mom who is in town (they live in Florida during the winter).

We are also really excited that Chuck’s sister is having a baby in May. We just found out they are having a girl! I can’t wait for Maddie and her cousin to play together. They are going to be the best of friends!

Tomorrow, I am going to post pictures of the best gift Maddie got for Christmas. Chuck’s mom made it. And you aren’t going to believe it!

I thought it would be fun to make some thank-you cards from Maddie for people for her Christmas gifts. Here are some of the pictures from our craft project.

A little while back, I posted about Maddie going to daycare. I just came across a couple pictures I took of her the last day she was there. I picked her up during snack time. She was such a happy girl sitting there eating with a couple friends.  

It was nice to see her so happy since a couple times we came she was upset because she was so tired. I am glad she had fun when she was there.

And I really want one of those bibs she is wearing…brilliant!

Whenever music comes on, Maddie dances. And by dances, I mean she bounces up and down. This can be sitting or standing. It’s adorable. The other night she was dancing like crazy to some music on tv. Of course she really went to town after the video turned off, but it’s still cute to watch!

Of course….please excuse me in the background being annoying.

Here are a few more videos that I had on my camera.

The first one is very typical of Maddie….walking around with veggie straws. She loves them. They are really like baby crack. If she sees them, she won’t eat anything but them. So really I use them to get her to sit in her high chair longer while I finish eating.

Next, Maddie has been playing with blankets or her jacket. She likes to put them on her head and walk around. Some times she covers her face and walks around. The other night, she put the jacket on her head and walked directly into the Christmas tree. Chuck and I thought it was hilarious. So we took some videos. She wasn’t very happy at the beginning of the first one. But the second video just cracks me up!

Finally, we were watching a tv show while she was playing before bed. She decided to put a wooden block into her metal jar. she was so loud! We got the video camera out and took a couple videos. She thought she was so funny!

So there you have it. Some of the updated videos from recently. I hope you enjoy seeing some of the silliness of this little girl. She is always doing something new and keeping us on our toes!

I finally got around to uploading some videos we took of Maddie during Christmas. These were when my mom and her crew were over.

So we had our first Christmas celebrations just before Christmas. I just found a couple pictures from when we were at my step-dad’s family’s house.

So, Christmas #3, we went to my mom’s house Christmas morning and had a big brunch with them. It was a good time. Maddie ate lots and played, then took a nap while I worked on a puzzle. It was nice and relaxing. We had already opened all our presents with my mom when they were over at our house. But it was nice to hang out with them. My mom took this picture of her (which I posted the other day). I am sure she took others, too, but I don’t have those yet.

After I fed Maddie a little lunch and we played some more, we headed home to rest until the next big event. After Maddie’s nap, we headed to my aunt and uncle’s house for a family dinner and gathering. We are usually out of town for the holidays, so I haven’t been to their house in a number of years. And a lot of my family hadn’t met Maddie yet.

Maddie was definitely the star of the show. She was snorting and walking and generally being goofy! Everyone got a kick out of her.

Then, the day after all of this excitement, we had my dad and step-mom over. (If you haven’t been able to follow this all very well, we had events Friday-Monday over Christmas planned.) The night before, my brother’s fiancé got a stomach bug that was going around, so they didn’t end up coming over. But it was nice to get together with my dad and Gwen. We opened presents with Maddie and ate lasagna! I forgot to take pictures during present opening, but I did snap one with Maddie and Gwen because Gwen wanted a new picture of the two of them.

We still have one more Christmas celebration with Chuck’s mom, sister and sister’s husband. We are so thankful to have such wonderful family to spend the holidays with and it was so fun to have everyone around to see Maddie on her first Christmas!

Yesterday we drove home from Chuck’s mom’s house and Maddie fell asleep in the car. Here is a picture of her sleeping in the car. I love that her hand is in the air and her lips are all puckered.
